Batman Arkham Knight - Official Thread!

Do you complain about GTA games being locked down until you get further in the story?

It is the way it is gated off that is poorly done. I got to the point in the story where the bridge is opened...turned out it was simply because Batman had not asked Alfred to open it yet!

I just find it annoying. I go to the house on fire, I am standing right where I need the mission to start. The game won't let me do it....Why not delay the fire until the bridge is opened? For the Riddler one, everything in the game, including the map marker and GPS tells you to go to the orphanage, then when you get there it says you don't have a gadget yet...just wait until I have the gadget and stop wasting my time!

Yep, its badly designed in that respect. I had the same feelings when it happened to me. The Riddler still keeps popping up asking where I am when he has already told me I cant do the challenge yet as I dont have the right item.

That being said, its still a great game. Enjoying it massively, it has had so many great moments.

For the fire stations/Firefly you need to use the Batmobile power winch to activate the sprinkler system, then he will fly out.

ManBat is an interesting side story too. A wee puzzle to do as well.

Just finished the main storyline and absolutely loved every minute of it, it feels like the Batman games are one of the few games still being created that isn't utter trash. Sure some people are having performance issues but the gameplay is fantastic

I agree the gameplay is good, but you are kind of glossing over the issue tbh. Everyone is having performance issues.... High res textures aren't even on the game, and it looks nowhere near as good as it should do!

Even though I can play through the performance issues without really caring, they are still present and most people are quite right not to put up with it tbh...I don't think you can hold the game up in such high esteem based on all of the problems it has.

In a few months time when it is fixed people will be playing a great game. Atm it is a husk of that game though.

PS. TheTwo-Face mission are my favourite I think. And they give you a good playground to use all of the new gadgets, which are pretty much all good.

Playing on a i-7 920, 12gb, 970gtx and every maxed, looks amazing. I have had a couple of "out of memory" crashes however.

Same, playing on the rig in my signature and I'm not getting any performance issues and not had it crash on me either. The graphics for me look stunning at 1080p.

Same here, not a single crash from release on either AMD or Nvidia. I love the smoke with game works though!

I'm 90% through the scarecrow stuff so now just taking a step back and doing the side stuff. Being 50% through the whole game, i've got a lot to go yet!

The hate is way overblown this game looks stunning  as it is right now for an Unreal Engine 3 title even with no gameworks enabled. WB are crazy to remove from sale after the first patch restored some of the missing FX its in way better state than many other high profile games were at launch

For Gameworks you need a lot of GPU power so I just bought a GTX 980 Ti which is what Nvidia want us to do obviously & why they give the game away with the GPU ;)

My GTX970 can handle most of the game @ 4K but it does slowdown a bit at that resolution!!

Riiiiight...

I'm still getting random loss of sound for small periods, and the general performance issues everyone has talked about. Luckily I can still play it mostly. Has there been any word of more patches?

It ran reasonably well at 4k on 1x Titan X (with the other as dedicated PhysX)

Averaged about 45 fps.

A 970 at 4k....not so much.

It's a pretty good looking game though, to be fair to him. Of course it could be better but for UE3 it's decent.

Looks better than Arkham City.

I played in to the early hours last night and really enjoyed it. It is just about playable for me. I still think it looks pretty bad though. Really blurry with some bad textures.

Also, even though I'm only a few hours in, I'm already feeling they are overdoing the batmobile.

Go into the Config file and turn of DOF and set Anisotropy to 16, I can get mine looking Pin sharp but i also think it loses some of the appeal and darkness. I also think it uses some kind of FXAA in the config file if you change AA from 1 to 0 batman becomes overly sharp. At work at the minute but will try and post some comparison shots later.

I had torun it with all setting on low or off at 4k on my 290x to get 30fps!! It was awful, so I sold my 4k monitor and got a 980ti and it blows everything away at 1080p :D

exact reason i'm avoiding 4k for a long time. i'd sooner play at 1080p maxxed than have to faff around with setting to get a playable frame rate at 4k. i'm talking single GPU only sli does not appeal to me
