Batman™: Arkham Knight Performance

No, i don't really have room on my SSD. :(

It should be able to run just fine without an SSD though. The way it caches stuff in the memory must be no good, it seems to max out my VRAM too no matter what settings i use.

More like TWYMTBP - The way you're meant to be played. :p

Makes a massive difference from what I've heard. I've not tried it on normal drive but played without stutter from my SSD.

For some reason the option to toggle the Batmobiles battle mode is no longer in the options menu, Have to keep hold of the right mouse button now

A shame as it is very smooth on an SSD and a mess on a HDD (I have had it on both). I would suggest using Steam mover if you want smooth game play.

@Neil mine was stuttering bud.

Do we think this will have to be re-downloaded, or a patch release to fix this ?

The first patch over the weekend updated the .exe file and nothing else.

I'm pretty sure that all of the resources are there for the game, but the code to run it efficiently is what needs adjustment.

The game has issues with how it's streaming the geometry and transient buffering so its' not discarding information efficiently enough - which is why 980s and 4GB cards are struggling and TITAN users and 980Ti users aren't.

Likely all they changed in the small update was something in the exe that was preventing the missing effects such as AO from initialising

Ive found that the rain hits his cape when you get the upgrade but before that it didnt! Much of picked up the "anorak" perk along the way :D

Enjoying it gameplay wise but it looks very meh and, whilst it shouldnt,it is affecting how much I enjoy it...given that it was one of the reasons I bought my TX :(

I have to say even with some of the GW effects disabled it looks pretty good to me at 4K.

Really? Its textures and backgrounds are blurry as hell. Also the character models are terrible. Batmans mouth moves like a southpark character when he talks. The fact arkham city looked better makes it all the more noticable

Arkham City looks nowhere near as good as Arkham Knight ;) apply some of these tweaks:

or not as the poster above said it looks great in 4K on default max settings with Nvidia gameworks disabled (unless you have tri-sli Titan X that is  ) Nvidia wanted to sell more GPU's but the FPS @ 4K with Gameworks enabled is mind boggling. But looking at how complex the gfx are & being streamed in all at once on the fly is why the FPS are not great right now (unless you tweak as per that Steam guide to 4096 from 1024 makes a huge difference).

That's the pop in, when they're actually there they look ok LOL.

Haha yeah :D

Seriously though even when its fully popped in the picture isnt very "sharp". Its still pretty blurry which is weird as stuff like the batmobile can look ok and certain things can also look good but grass and the like are still low res

I've been away at Glastonbury, so have missed a lot of the developments since the game launched.

Is there a problem with V-RAM? If so does having a Titan X actually make this more playable than most GPU's?

On page 1 you will see my initial benchmark which seemed perfectly playable for 4k resolutions.

I think that was with one of my Titan X's set as dedicated PhysX so that takes the burden away

I'm just wondering whether to bother playing it now or wait for weeks/months for them to sort it?

Because the VRAM is borked, gamewise,my TX is a big benefit. They say it will be patched to use less but for the time being its a big help.

The game seems to run far better on 1 of my 780 tis than both in SLI. I've disabled all the gameworks things until it gets sorted. The grain effect ruins the texture quality, but thankfully I never notice it outside due to the constant rain lol. I've also noticed that alternate frame rendering 1 is defaulted if you try and use SLI, which actually causes issues with shadowplay recording on my setup, which when I'm trying to do a playthrough series on youtube, doesn't help at all....
