Batman™: Arkham Knight Performance

Whilst I do think theres a bit venom aimed at Nvidia there and I do admit Im a bit of a fanboy myself, this whole thing stinks. They do provide help and dont code the game as pointed out but the allegations that the demo video they used to show off physx and gameworks was sped up to disguise the fact it was running at sub 60fps points to Nvidia being very much aware this was a problem long before we knew about it.

Shame really as I love the little things GW and physx bring and they are the reason I buy Nvidia

Is there a link to this?

I don't get it, it is both sped up and slowed down all the way through, it is really obviously deliberately slowed down to show off the effects and then sped up again, I really don't think there is any attempt there to obfuscate that its been slowed down and sped up

I mean, I get that the video has been sped up, I just don't think it has anything to do with them trying to "hide that it's running at 30fps"... if it takes 2 seconds to edit an ini file to unlock the framerate I'm sure that whoever at nvidia recorded the vids was capable of unlocking the frame rate, which would be much easier than spending ages going through editing a video

No they did not slow it down again, the game does slow motion depending on the action.

I have the game, I know exactly what it does, the video has been edited, in places it stops completely and a slider goes across showing with and without gameworks effects, or I suppose the game does that too?

Now that isn't entirely true is it. Crysis 3, physics broken causing single digit fps, TombRaider hair thingy fail and generally rubbish frame rates, to name but two straight off the top of my head.

Well you have a right to your opinion but most would disagree especially when it comes to the frame rates seeing as its efficient enough to run on the consoles.

We know the video has been edited and the showing off with and without gameworks and they sometimes pause it, all that does not change the fact that it had been speeded up, they didn't do any speeding up with the other batman games because they were not locked to 30fps out of the gate.

Yes it has been sped up, but to conclude that its to "cover up" that it might be running at 30fps, is bobbins, youtube only runs at 24fps anyway

No it runs at 60fps, maybe your browser does not support it.
And the majority have concluded it been sped up to hide the fact that its running at 30fps

That isn't what you said, you said that all gaming evolved titles were flawless on launch. Oh oh, lets add FarCry 3 and 4 to that list as well.

Excuse me i said nothing of the sort, someone else said that and FarCry 4 is a gameworks title.

And TR was an issue out of the gate for NV not AMD users where as gameworks titles are having issues for both NV and AMD users on release both in bugs and performance.

I'm sorry, what?

Gaming evolved titles, no issues with them on release.

you said exactly that... there are plenty of GE titles that have been a complete mess on launch, you can't blame NV all over every GW title and then try to make AMD blameless for GE, either tar them with the same brush or not at all
battlefield 4, battlefield hardline, sniper elite 3, thief, bioshock infinite... none of these had "no issues on release"
GTA5 had 5 major patches in the first month it was released

Played bioshock infinite, alien isolation, PVZ, crysis 3, tomb raider, sniper elite 3 and hardline at launch and don't remember having any performance or stability issues, I'm sure that there probably were a few minor "issues" but nothing serious like watch dogs, batman AK, assassins creed etc.

Also, again, what exactly was/is wrong with GTA 5? For the majority of people it ran and still does run perfectly. Also, it isn't an AMD game considering it has nvidia options in it....

then why is it listed on AMD's website under Gaming Evolved?

http://www.amd.com/en-us/markets/game/featured/all-games/grand-theft-auto-v

and yeah, so, I'm playing Arkham Knight without any issues

and seriously? no issues playing Crysis 3 on launch? so like the bit right at the very beginning with the cables with the broken physics where frame rates would literally drop to single digits when you looked in their direction? no?
either you were playing it with everything set to low/off or you have very selective memory

Well, why is it listed on nvidia's site as a gameworks title?

http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/grand-theft-auto-v-nvidia-gameworks-and-technology

There is neither an AMD nor nvidia logo at the startup so despite being listed on both GPU sites, I don't really think it is a "true" GE/GW title considering EVERY other GE/GW game has a logo at the start up and won't have settings for both brands.

I can't remember those issues and this was when I had my 7850 so I had to reduce settings anyway so perhaps that is why I didn't encounter those performance issues, although I can't even recall of many reporting performance issues, happy for you to link posts/articles on it though. Do you mean the very first mission where it is raining and you are on some ship/dock? If so, even now with my 290 that still tanks performance but as soon as you get past that part, performance is pretty good for the rest of the game.

But regardless, what issues do/did GTA 5, hardline, SE 3, bioshock have on release day? I haven't played nor followed thief so no idea what was wrong with it.

Also, BAK might be running a bit better for people now after the 1st patch but for a lot it is still far from playable, just need to look at steam, metacritic, amazon etc. ratings to see that a very large majority are having issues (I don't think any AAA game has ever had as bad of ratings as that...) with the game and if the issues were only affecting a small minority then why did WB pull the game from the shelf + admit in a public blog post on all the issues and how they will be working as hard as possible to fix the game?

I didn't say there were no issues with AK, I said I'm playing AK without any major issues, not the same thing, I'm not going to go through and google every game for you and post links, I'm sure you have fingers

Sorry finaly, you replied to me right after the other guy and I assumed it was the same person, its what I was responding to anyway, that someone had said the GE titles were all flawless

The same thing applies though, TR had issues beyond just tressfx
