Batman™: Arkham Knight Performance

Yeah, factor in inflation though and the cost of a decent CPU at the time.

Still more expensive now even with the exchange rate differences and the UK has low inflation.

Plus Crysis was a next generation change in graphics - lots of today's games look rubbish considering the cost of hardware required.

Agreed. Crysis set a graphical standard that took a long time to reach.

Batman uses the old Unreal 3 engine, sure it's been modified; but not near enough or with a significant enough of an improvement to warrant a Titan X to run it relative alright.

It took me two highly clocked gtx 480s to max out every setting in crisis @ 1080p with a minimum fps above 60. It was a system killer. Still a stunning looking game by today's standards. :)

Add in the crysis real lifesis mod and it's still one of the best looking games about.

So a £300 console owner will have the same lack of issues than a person with a £3000 PC.

So unless PC owners brute force things we end up with rubbish, poor looking games.

PC owners should be now eating their words about Crysis - such a great looking game which was nowhere buggy as many of these releases and didn't need £1200+ of graphics hardware either.

yeah that's a fair comparison considering he has over double the number of pixels. The games broken to various degrees, we know that. That doesn't excuse stupid :p

I'm off work so will try it with smoke turned on. I turned it off as i think it looks ridiculous lol.

Yeah. i'm getting big stutters when driving around with the Batmobile with the smoke on too. Stupid, overdone effect anyway.

Yeah taken that off and it is a lot smoother to play. Still drops to low 20's in some areas but nothing to worry about. Pretty much 30fps now.

Another perfect example of pc gamers being **** on. Had this been a console screw up you can bet they wouldn't still be waiting for a fix 7+ days later, there would be a ****ing uproar

This is still UE3 based?? I thought it was UE4. Its the same engine as games like Bioshock:Infinite and the Borderlands 2.

Yet,it needs so much hardware??

Engines change, look at Source from HL2 -> now

This is especially true for UE as it is very popular on consoles and everyone has their own requests about what should be added. The codebase is probably groaning under the strain of all the additions (metaphorically). Of course if you are adding aftermarket or custom effects to a game using the engine, system requirements will be commensurate to that.

Dude, calm down. It's just a game and it will get fixed eventually. I've actually been playing through it today and it doesn't seem to be as broken as it's been made out. Maybe I'm just lucky and it's working for me though.

I'm calm, I'm just annoyed. It does seem to be working fine for some but still doesnt take away from the fact that this would be fixed already had it been a console issue.

Just fired this up for the first time on a 980Ti, night and day difference to 780 SLI.

1440, 'maxed' with interactive smoke disabled, averaging 85-90FPS, 780's were at best, 50fps.

I can even crank DSR up to 4K and still average a nice smooth 45fps :D

I am loving this game, albeit I don't have much time to play at the mo but 1440P with everything maxed including smoke and particles handles sweet as on the TX and ROG Swift.

Getting good framerates but its the 1 second pauses that suck. Titan x and SSD here as well. Its surprisingly smooth at forced half vsync through NCP though as the motion blur does some kind of magic. Thing is it still looks better than the ps4 version, runs the same framerate and has a higher resolution. As I already own the game at the very least I'm getting the ps4 experience so I'm just playing it. Have to say its awesome

Yeah it's crazy how smooth it actually feels at 30fps. Most games I find unplayable anywhere near 30 but this actually feels great. Also, brilliant game. Just keeps getting better.

I'll be leaving smoke off for now as it about halves my frame rate!

Finally, this weekend, I can sit, for hours on end and enjoy this title :D
