Batman™: Arkham Knight Performance

Just did some testing and performance is for sure much much improved even with full gameworks features enabled. That said smoke is still a fps killer. I tried my old 640 gt as a dedicated physx card and with full on gameworks effects the fps is less than half hovering between 24-30fps :P yet if i disable only smoke i actually gain around 10-15% against my 980ti handling physx alone.

Now i have a 560ti i would like to test but nope nvidia wont let me because noo wddm 2.0 drivers available for fermi :(.. thanks a lot

I'm getting on average around 80FPS with everything maxed at 1440P, As you have a 980 Ti as well you should be getting a metric butt ton more frames, Unless you're playing at 4K ?

At 2560x1080 so 30ish% above 1080p i get average of 122 FPS with everything maxed out and all gameworks features enabled except smoke. This is with my poor 640 GT for physx and 980ti as the renderer.

Anyone with a furyx and 1440p mind recording some gameplay with batmobile. Wouldn't mind seeing how a 290 is against it.

Record with what, I've got fraps but it just won't work properly anymore, It always drops the fps into the 30's no matter what. Even if the game runs at 100+ it's still take 50% from me. It never used to but for the last year or so it runs like an Allegro.

Ahh ok, I thought the 640GT would do nearly nothing for Physx.

Well it is to weak.. anything physx fluid based, such as Batman AK smoke, and it cant handle the pressure and gives horrible fps which is why i really want to test the 560 ti i have but i cant because nvidia..as usual.. are to slow. All im asking for is wddm 2.0 drivers.. nothing else :=)

I tested a 970 alongside my 980 Ti and got negligible gains.

Gregster did a good video a while back, The gain was minute at best with most things, Batman did show a nice gain.

In some games it can have an effect but games that run Physx are few and far between as it is.

Indeed there are not that many games with hardware accellerated physx atleast not worth mentioning and many of those dont run that impressive to begin with. I certainly would never recommend anyone to buy a dedicated physx card but its fun to tinker with. I know it helped to have my 640 gt installed as a dedicated physx card when i was playing witcher 3 on my 780 lightning as it helped the minimums in a few problematic areas from low 40ish to high 50ish. This was before all the game patches and the so called kepler driver fix.

Sidenote: funny bug im having with this dedicated physx is when i select the 640 to be purely dedicated (the little check box) performance is pooop.. If i just select it from the drop down and dont use the option to dedicate it performance is good.. weird.

I thought the Physx hair/fur in TW3 was done via CPU ?

Could have sworn it was CPU for Nvidia as well, Ahh well not really important :)

There are certainly effects that are offloaded to the GPU. I tested this myself back when i had a 780 as part of the performance issue with kepler. Forcing PhysX to CPU or a dedicated physx gpu helped with these performance issues which is why i concluded that certain effects must have been GPU accellerated. Good thing about it all though was it ran just fine on the CPU. There are even a file called APEX_ClothingGPU_x64.dll.

You can use wddm 2.0 driver to fermi. http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/9211957

Action?
I'll try and find it thanks.

EDIT:
Okay I found that so I'll try it out, What do you use to get the video U-tube ready.

I was using a free converter but it was naff for HD content and failed 50% of the time and I haven't been doing vid's for years so I don't know what's currently decent? Cheers.
