*** Battlefield 1 ***

Not at all, battlefront is not battlefield, you can't say that's their futuristic game just because it's set in the future and it's an FPS, that's ridiculous. Lots of people are still waiting for 2143, like I say there's such a limited amount you can do with World War games, it's always going to be the same guns, vehicles etc, at least with something modern or futuristic they can invent stuff which doesn't exist and use some imagination, not just iron sights and bolt action rifles.
I mostly agree and it's why I kind of want to see a far future Battlefield next, but there's no great reason why you cant have an older style setting in a reimagined universe. It doesn't have to be all crazy like Wolfenstein, it's possible to do a more grounded take on things while still having entirely new peoples, weapons, capabilities, war scenarios, whatever. It would take a bit of work to put together the whole 'lore' behind all it, but it's no more than developers already do for most games.

Hype is a funny thing, the amount of brainless sheep there are amongst the gaming community makes my head spin. I've already had arguments with the Battalion 1944 devs as they are promoting Westie as their hype machine.

Then I've had arguments with Westie who thinks he is unbiased even though he is part of the Ronku program.

Journalists, reviewers, gaming publications are all in it for themselves. Remember these guys are the same people who EA used as consultants for Hardline and look how **** that game turned out. :p

If BF5 is going to be a Futuristic setting,With jump suits, people flying around the map etc..no thanks.

Ive been waiting for a decent world war 2 with modern graphics for ages.

If it is future based I can't see it being like CoD/Titanfall. It will be an extension of 2142 which didn't have any of that. There were still tanks, still LAV/APC and still relatively 'normal' aircraft too. Only thing slightly outlandish were the walkers and perhaps the TITANs.

Unfortunately BF became a console game so we're just gonna get lumbered with what the kids want rather than what what the general hardcore fanbase want.

I hope I'm wrong. But I can't see a WW1/II era game being popular with the kids :(

I dunno their was that Brad Pitt film Fury a few years back. And Pacific a few years before that. I hope it is WW2, if it looks as good as battlefront it'll leave Battalion 44 in it's dust.

I heard WW1 a few years ago through a friend, I couldn't picture it at the time nor still can I. Battlefield's been about vehicles, so I wonder what tricks up their sleeve they have to make it more fun for infantry. Mind you, there's still the air war which would be awesome.

WW1 won't work at all. Tanks that do 4MPH with five people inside and the driver doesn't even have control over a gun, biplanes flying over the battlefield with your passenger dropping mini bombs over the side? Very few different weapon types compared to even Vietnam/WW2 and very few unlocks too. Perhaps a horse instead of different vehicle types? It just wouldn't work and I will be genuinely shocked if it is.

If the maps are rubbish, it doesn't matter what era it's set in. IR that only works at night, shotguns that blow up in your hand if you equip chokes and netcode that works well from the get go will do for me.

I suspect they'd just take liberties - i.e. co-axial lewis gun or something for the tank driver and a bit higher speeds than they'd really have done. If you generalise over that era instead of being historically accurate to a specific year there is a fair spread of weapons.

EDIT: Oh and the Germans were working on IR sights soon after WW1 though I believe they only saw limited use in 1945 - so with a bit of a stretch we can keep the poster above happy and have them as upgrades on every gun.

I defo don't want it to be set in the future,i have been waiting for a decent ww1/ww2 game for YEARS!!

Take it as granted that BF5 will come first to those on Origin Access, a months subscription is £3.99 currently so be prepared to pay if you want to play the game earlier than everyone else.

Seems like 80% of people want WW2, while 10% seem to be keen on WW1 and 2142 remake. Please don't get this wrong, after hardline I need a proper BF game again.

Where can we watch this live next week and what time?
