*** Battlefield 1 ***

Talking with a friend last night about the previous Battlefield Beta's and how impressive and different they were.

Bad Company 2 - Parachuting into Port Valdez
BF3 - Metro rush, blowing your way in and fighting through the underground
BF4 - Bringing down the tower block in Shanghai

BF1 - Horses and a big metal choo-choo :/

Saying that, it's better than I thought so will probably get it :)

Certainly does make for some impressive looking screenshots that train

About 20 minutes into my first game stuff kicked off majorly around the train with it going through on fire several planes duelling overhead, a horse or two galloping alongside, etc. shame that other aspects were really really detracting from the experience for me.

At one point in one of my matches, the whole of our squad (4 of us) had horses. It was just starting to darken before the sandstorm and the 4 of us charging in formation at a flag on horseback just looked epic :D

The level of incompetence in this game is truly staggering.

Random spawn timers, enemy teams having both bombs planted, vehicles vanishing, the worst weapon feel of fps game.

Other than it running well, I can't think of a single good thing about the game. Sure i've had a few fun rounds but for a big title like this, it's more frustration than enjoyment.

The map is crap basically. Also why can't I scroll with my mouse button to select items other than main gun and pistol?

I used to think that - but after playing for awhile in BF4 I found having keys for the equipment far more efficient and just use mouse scroll down for sidearm.

Being an old school arrow key player my current BF4 setup (and similar in BF1) - insert toggle weapon attachement, home spot, page up equipment 2, delete primary weapon/deploy bipod, end equipment 1 and page down for grenades.

I much prefer to scroll through the lot. Is it a bug or intentional? I
Hope they add an option if it's not already there.

Ive got the exact same key setup haha. Just cant use WASD at all, get weird looks using the arrow keys from my son & daughter. Been using arrows since 1998 :)

Quite right Nexus. Its one of those things that baffles me when people say they really dont like BF1 at all but will buy it when it comes down to £20 or something. Cant understand the logic of that, if you dont like it , then you dont like it, why would you spend money on something you dont like, regardless of price. I dont like Apple Macs, no matter how cheap it is I'm not going to buy one because I dont like them. To me, if someone is willing to buy it at a certain price then there must be something they enjoy about it otherwise they wouldnt buy it at all and if there is something they like about it but all they do is focus on the bad things then they are just being a negative nancy :D

Yup and this is why we get stuck with game design decisions because people don't vote with their wallet. Much the same way premium/season passes, cut out content from the base game to be used for paid for DLC purposes further down the line, paying for early alpha access games only to never leave early alpha access has now ruined the gaming industry in some ways because people just accept it and happily throw their money at all of these things. Lets hope that new ark survival DLC doesn't catch on otherwise we will start seeing paid for dlc for every buggy early alpha access game

BF 1 is fun for certain reasons but not for the right reasons especially for a BF game, I could probably get 50 hours from it, which would give me my value for money target but I just can't fathom the thought of supporting the game and the road it is heading down now, by buying it, we/I are essentially saying "yes we love this, give us more of this please"

I wish I never bought hardline or battlefront despite enjoying them in one way or another and I met my value for money target but come 2-3 weeks after release, we all stopped playing due to the issues with the gameplay, balance etc. and no word from DICE/Visceral at all about fixing them until about 6 months after release was a **** take. I have a feeling we will see this happen again, they will only address the issues when they see a decline in the player base.

wish they would be honest about the rest of the garbage Nexus. Pratflags winds me up no end these days, will prob unsub him now also....."guys this is so much fun, I'm having so much fun with heroes blah blah" no you lying **** you've been bashing heroes previously so what has changed...oh yeah that's right, Dice freebies

RETARD!!!

QASOJat.gif

:D

Should never have sub'd to him in the first place, he is probably my most hated youtube gamer, can't stand him

Like I said before, if dice don't address the issues, I am fully expecting these youtubers to upload a ton of footage for the first month or 2 but after that, we will start to see little to no footage being uploaded and the only time they will upload new footage will be to show of the new DLC's.

That new ark DLC is pretty much outrageous. If I am right, the DLC actually costs more than the game itself (even though the game itself is still in early access, which in itself poses the question of whether an early access title should even be having DLC in the first place). Thats just blatant cash grab imo.

Yup it is nothing but a cash grab. Absolute kick in the teeth to the people who have paid for the base version as well but the sad thing is... people will still buy it :( Looking at steam, the overall rating from 666 people is very positive *sigh*

Shame as I love the look of the game and this new dlc looks utterly superb but the main reason I haven't bought it since I last tried it was purely because of the awful performance and bugs but now that they have gone and done this, quite frankly, they can go **** themselves :p

I think it is designed that way - maybe not entirely intentionally and not so much a bug as other BF games have the same setup. I've not looked too hard to see if there is some way of doing it hidden away in advanced options though as I quickly got used to keys somehow - I still prefer being able to scroll through in general though - I'm having a hard time with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided at the moment as I can't get it working with the quick slots.

Seems to be a bit of an odd split where those that got into it from around 1994-1999 ish are a lot more likely to use arrow keys and most of the people since are far more likely to use WASD and its quite hard to change - the slight offset of the S for me doesn't work very well.
