*** Battlefield 1 ***

Well it's not just me experiencing problems. Pretty sure it's not the fault of my rig either, I have just done 2 rebuilds (all new components) in less than 2 weeks on 2 different builds of windows, just in case. The game is a mess compared to any other games/software I run. Spent the last 2 hours on perfect 60Hz without a dropped frame, but instead of enjoying it, I couldn't get a decent server that wasn't throwing up those "server dying" orange/red symbols.

DICE love to make us suffer for it don't they? It's never fricking easy with them. The last time I played a DICE game with no problems was BC2, and that was awesome. BF3 and 4 had definite growing pains at the start.

I'm now playing on servers that are fine for me but people are complaining of lag on...really is a strange one.

Anyhow, finally unlocked the martini Henry, what an absolutely destructive gun, hit anything inside 150m and it's a one shot kill, makes a very satisfying sound when firing too!

I just solved my very similar problem tonight. I changed the frame rate limiter to 60FPS (to match vsync-on and my 60hz monitor). This instantly stopped all random stutter I was experiencing on Amiens. It was a solid 60FPS after that with not a single drop.

Been doing this for quite soon time but l turn Vsync-Off <== Give it a try.

Forgot to mention l'v set my 980Ti FPS to 60 as well for all my games.
The GPU will run cooler and quieter as well.

I'm getting terrible performance issues since I upgraded to a 1080 and gysnc monitor. Some maps constantly suffer horrific performance drops, lag and stutter.

Empires edge and Amiens are particularly bad.

Literally imagine having the crappiest GPU and playing the game at full settings. Thats what it feels like. Other maps are fine but those tank.

Lower your FPS on your 1080 try 100 and see if things improve, my monitor is 60Hrtz so my 980TI FPS is set at 60 Vsync OFF.

Been doing this for a while games are really smooth.

After playing for days without any issues, wondering why people were complaining, for the past two days I have been experiencing so much lag that it has become unplayable for many games. What gives?

First time playing in about 9 months, lag fest but still kinda enjoyable - it's no BF4 but it'll gimme my fps fix along with PUBG.

Yup the potato masher is still going strong :D :p

At first I thought that too but one round, it can be buttery smooth and locked to 80 fps, next round, I get fps drops to 40's. Noticed that CPU being maxed at 100% some time too although it doesn't seem to make too much of a difference i.e. in division, all 4 cpu cores are constantly at 100% but the game is so smooth (in dx 12 mode)

What helped massively with the cpu/stutter issues was capping the FPS via a user.cfg file or rivatuner, the in game one is crap.

This is with dx 11 too, it is odd as dx 12 is terrible in MP but for SP, dx 12 is better than dx 11.

Sounds very similar to my problems, it could be fine in some games and some maps but in others it would be terrible. I put it down to the number of players in a given area and other game effects like weather or a large numbers of explosions happening. I found on rush / frontlines it was not as bad, i'm guessing due to the reduced number of players not putting as much strain on the CPU. Keep an eye on afterburner and the drops in frames will correspond with drops in GPU utilisation and the CPU being at 100%

BF1 is the only game it seemed to consistently happens in. I did also see it happen in BF4, although not to the same extent. I ended up upgrading to a r7 1700 which cured the problem but has introduced some others.

Was like the old days, loads on.

It's no bf4, but don't worry son, Star Wars 2 in a couple months

Nah I'll leave the Klingon's to you and Nex, only played SWBF for 14h - not doing that again.

To boldly go huh mate haha

haha :D

Josh will be one of the first to pre-order again.... ;) :D Micro-transactions/pay 2 win aside..... I honestly think it will be a lot more fun and better than SWBF (and much better than BF1), even if you aren't necessarily a fan of SW. Since no DLC/map packs either, it looks like there will be a ton more online content too.

But yeah, fun being back on a game again!

Anyone on tonight???

Cool, will have MSI AB running for the next lot of games and see. Could just be what you said about a ton of players in a small location spamming grenades etc. Saw this video recently of the potato masher :D and a 1080ti at various res.'s:

Not got a 1080ti but yeah definitely going to be some bottle necking going on by the looks of it, although I only play with a couple of settings set to "high" so there shouldn't be dips to as low as 40's :/ BF 4 ran great for me, some dips but not as bad as bf 1 (with similar settings) and with mantle, the FPS was then locked to a constant 125 FPS

I've tried turning some settings up to take some load of the CPU and put more load onto the GPU so hopefully it should help a bit with the drops....

no problems with running the game itself but the latest maps seem to be dominated with planes bombing you all the time

Couple in the squad with MG 15's soon sorts bombers out ;)

I'll be on tonight I would like to think - pgi947

My martini Henry hard on is still raging strong :p

Same, almost 10,000 kills now, i try to use it on most maps unless it's the bigger ones.

Mars pistol is almost 7,000 as that's the finisher and can sometimes go on a rampage with it.

Interesting video but he is testing the single player. Just from my personal experience, when playing in single player it still used 100% CPU but I didn't get the same big fps drops that occurred in multiplayer. Do you get the low FPS warning on right hand side of the screen when it is happening?

In Bf4 I only noticed it when I first got the 980Ti and was wondering why it was not going much above 60% utilisation in game when running at 1080p. I was still getting over 120FPS and I didn't get any big (and frequent) FPS drops so it was not a issue. I just ended up increasing the resolution scaling in game and that brought the GPU utilisation up and didn't seem to have any noticeable effect on frame rates.

Yeah SP definitely runs a lot better, especially under dx 12. DX 12 in MP is terrible.

Not really paid much attention to the those icons. I just have the FPS figure enabled via a user.cfg which shows the FPS drops to 40's.

IIRC, last time I checked, my GPU was sitting at 84% so I could probably try and bump res scale or/and some settings up a bit more, currently just got texture quality, filtering and mesh set to high/ultra with FXAA medium for AA.
