*** Battlefield 1 ***

So I went back to the 1607 Anniversary edition and my stuttering sees to be fixed. (I hope)

Amiens still has crappy performance but my initial thoughts are it's the game rather than some weird stutter caused by Windows or Nvidia combination.

Lets hope that with the Fall Creators Update MS have everything sorted out or we are in a really sorry state of affairs.

Ive heard MS admitting no fault to it but has only occured with CU update and gamesmode hmm...

Deffo windows issue

This in general or single/multiplayer?

Multiplayer. I haven't fully tested single player.

If the game doesn't stutter or turn in to a slide show, I get an odd sensation of rowing a boat (fast, slow) or the movement of the charter feels like a penguin waddling. (running is fast then slow)

Prey also felt weird but couldn't put my finger on it.

But BF1 was really really broken. If it wasn't the CU or Nvidia drivers (or a combination of both) then it is my hardware.

I'm sure non savvy PC owners would think they have a broken card and would be doing an RMA.

Over the weekend I tried, a clean install of windows and my hardware at stock and still the problem persisted.

Early days yet as I only played a few maps on the Anniversary Edition, but despite performance generally not being fully fluent it was much better than the CU.

Amiens is still the worst performance, but I could see other players complaining in the chat about performance too and lag.

But the kind of performance I was seeing is the kind where your hardware isn't fast enough for the game. :o

This is the weird thing. I was running the CU since it launched and never had any issues with my 970 and non Gsync display.

Two weeks ago I upgraded to a 1080 and a Gsync 1400p monitor. The 1080 came first so I put that in to existing PC and gamed on it at 1200p for a bit. This is on a PC running the CU and had no issues.

When my monitor arrived I hooked that up and since then I've had nothing but major issues in BF1.

I did overclock my CPU and RAM. But these where tested thoroughly and have stood up to hours and hours of gaming and use since and haven't fallen over. And as mentioned I tried it at stock and the problem persisted.

One thing I didn't try was turning Gsync off yet.

I played a good few maps yesterday, and its was pretty much fine. had a few bits of lag here and there, but nothing as bad as some are reporting. Guess I must be lucky.

It sounds to me like you're experiencing the server lag and rubberbanding everyone in Europe has had for the last few weeks. DICE have acknowledged this as an issue and are pushing the server hosts to improve the situation.

Maybe. At it's worst, I saw on Empires Edge a huge drop in FPS, like a huge weight had dropped. Everything slowed right down and I'm sure I heard the GPU make the same noise a plane does when it losses altitude. I was expecting a crash or a blue screen but it just carried on afterwards.

The more persistent issue was stutter. Like frame skips every 30 seconds or so. If I was to imagine it it would be like my CPU hits 100% and things stutter until it recovers.

I guess this all could be server side, but then why the massive thread on the Nvidia forums regarding stutter with the CU? It's weird as for me I've only found it an issue the last two weeks.

The timing of your issues coincide completely with the poor server performance. There may also be stuttering introduced by the CU update, but that's the kind of behavior that GSYNC does a good job of masking/minimizing.

Honestly thought I was going mad after the latest update, some textures/ models are looking blurry and I'm finding some maps really fatiguing on my eyes (mainly the expansion ones) - just had a google & looks like Chromatic Aberration is now forced on; it honestly looks horrible for me - cannot get my head around why they thought it was a good idea

I did the same and thought it was sorted, but it randomly happened again on maps it hadn't happened on previously. I quit and came back later and all was fine on the same maps.

It seems totally random. As someone else said earlier, when it works properly BF1 actually *feels* like the most fluid/smooth game I have, which makes it so odd and annoying when it chokes.

The spawn points on the map look weird now too. Like they edges are overly smoothed or something. I don't know what they are doing really, it's like they have been tinkering about with things and have forgotten to do proper quality control.

Just had a first few rounds of war pigeons, quite a decent game mode really, very fast paced, little time or room for scouts, a nice break from the norm :)

E: Another glitch to add to the ever growing list....quitting via ESC menu, leaving me with a loading circle saying 'quitting' indefinitely, 100000x quicker just alt+tab out and manually force close it.
