Battlefield 3 technical thread. Post in here for help with crashing/lock ups etc.

Quite a few errors with this game.

Login into servers. Your joining the game, and it says loading music comes on, and it hangs. Have to back out and try and rejoin seems to happen on the first server i join then it stops it.

When in game some times not always, when you go prone, it seems your falling into the floor.

Graphics tearing some times and yet again not all the time.

Ui seems to go missing every now and again.

Dont think this is a bug but its a bit rubbish. I have selected a scope or a perk for a certain class. And you back out the game and it wont save that, goes back to basic again.

Buggy game but when it works rather amazing. Hopefully a patch soon.

I must be one of the lucky ones. So far I have not had any issues although only played online for a few hours in total (playing campaign for more).

W7 x64 HP
Q9950 @ 3.4Ghz
8GB
Asus GTX470
X-Fi
SSD
1920 X 1200 Ultra settings with a couple turned down (can't remember what exactly).

Looks great and plays great. So glad I didn't get the console version.

Dont have any issues.

For a idea of specs.

I5k @ 4.8ghz
8meg ram
SLI 580 (standard vram)

I also tried it with only one 580 and no problems.

You could try gamebooster to switch off unneeded processes i think its freeware now. Might be a placebo program though, but i guess every little helps.

I have fixed my issue with the error battlefield 3 has stopped working and the sound loop, found the answer from this forum post:

http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/forum/threadview/2832654347714582050/1/

To enable the 3GB switch on Windows Vista™ or Windows 7:

This is working only for 32 Bit windows with 4 gbr am
1#Right-click Command Prompt(CMD.EXE) in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.

2#At the command prompt, enter "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072"
3#Restart the computer.

bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072 - this is the comand to increas the memory/aplication to 3 gb instead of 2 gb

Obviously this applies to 32bit OS users ( I know I know why am I using 32bit, it came with a PC I had custom built in 2007 and never had the need to upgrade it)

This stopped my crashes! To stop my d/c from multiplayer I disabled Upnp in my router. To stop connection issues in coop I changed my antivirus to Microsoft security essentials.

Thats 3 different issues that should have been fixed before launch!

I sometimes get the battlefield 3 has stopped working error when starting up a game, Battle log still says that i'm loading the level. Can cancel and try again 10 seconds later and it all loads fine, very strange.
My main problem is the loading time, my god they're long. Takes a couple of minutes to load a new map. The friends i join with are in and died a few times before i can even get in.

One of my friends is crashing to desktop constantly. He's lucky if he can play for 30 minutes solid. I'm going to lend him my old gfx card and see if that helps as he's on Nvidia atm and i have an ATi.

Mine unfortunately crashes a lot.

bf3.exe has stopped work - argghhhhhhh

Not got to the bottom of it unfortunately:

Disabled GX on the Xonar control panel. Still crashes

Reverted CPU and GFX back to default clocks. Still crashes

Renamed a file in the MSI afterburner folder (I've forgotten which file it it!). Still crashes

Changed all graphic settings to low. Still crashes

Can sometimes play for a couple of hours with no problems, but other times it'll crash within 5 seconds of joining a team.

I also had the upnp issue.

I still have like a 70-80% failure rate on the co-op campaign. It almost always gets stuck on 'waiting for player'. It's the most annoying thing in the world, I've only done 4 missions because of it.

Have you got AV installed? Does it have a game mode?

I have an odd issue, where BF3 doesn't appear in the Volume Mixer for Win7, meaning that I cant have ts3 auto adjust volume when people talk.

Any ideas?

BF3 all of a sudden stopped mapping controller/mouse keys. It was working fine this morning and then just stopped, now it wont remap them no matter what I press (im clicking in the right column)

Ok I got the mouse to remap by enable raw mouse input (turning it off makes you not able to map o.O) Now to fix the controller!

I am having awful trouble with Origin itself, just after it logs in, it just silently crashes and thats it. No error messages at all either. Help!

Just CTD for no reason other than battlefield.exe stopped working (or whatever the exe is)

Have green flickering sometimes

Also have flickering shadows especially on that tunnel map the outside of it, not sure why maybe DX10 card?

I have been having an issue whereby every time I have logged into Origin, it has crashed to the desktop with no errors after about 10 seconds.

I think I may have fixed the issue by deleting all my old temp files from the cache. Seems to be fairly stable now, but the crashing only ever occured when Origin was in online mode, never offline.

This game does not like my oc cpu, the moment i run it on oc system, bsod. Stop errors.

In Mp i have yet to actually get in, when i try to launch it just keeps loading and nothing happens.
