Battlefield 3 technical thread. Post in here for help with crashing/lock ups etc.

IncreaseUserVa should not apply to 64Bit operating systems as they can address more memory out of the box?

32-bit applications built with the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE:YES linker flag on the 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, and Windows 7 can address memory up to the number specified by the boot configuration data (BCD) element IncreaseUserVa. IncreaseUserVa can have a value ranging from 2048, the default, to 3072 (which matches the amount of memory configured by the /3gb boot option on Windows XP). The remainder of 4 GB is allocated to the kernel and can result in failing driver and service configurations.

For more information about BCD, see Boot Configuration Data on MSDN.

32-bit applications on 64-bit platforms can address up to 2 GB, or up to 4 GB with the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE:YES linker flag.

I keep getting out of memory and the game shuts down. I have it set to high in game. And Im running eyefinity. Now how am I running out of memory.

I stopped playing game now due to rubber banding lag.Spent all last night downloading MW3.I wanted to stick with BF3 but its unplayable at any graphics settings on multiplayer. Single player runs well.

Love this game, but I'm getting fed up of the game freezing and causing my machine to BSOD. I have zero issues with any other games.

Only problem that I have with my game now is that it randomly comes up with an error saying it isn't installed correctly, this seems to happen every time I boot up my PC. Sometimes doing the repair install tool fixes it, other times I have to system restore

I know you updated the firmware but have you got the latest release?

I have the Gigabyte 560 Ti OC and was having the same problems as yourself and read the details of the latest BIOS - it ups the load voltage to 1.04V (present 1.012V under load).

I haven't flashed my card as all other games don't seem to have a problem - so i've created profile within MSI Afterburner with a voltage setting of 1.038V which, thus far, seems to have cured my problem (CTD) for BF3.

I would check your load voltage (furmark) and if it's under 1.04V you may want to consider flashing the BIOS again or making your own profile.

If it 'is' running at 1.04V you could try upping it incrementally until it becomes stable - and if your happy with the final voltage keep it as your BF3 profile. If you feel it's too high you may want to consider contacting Gigabyte.

Had the same issues with my Gigabyte gtx560ti

Using MSI Afterburner i upped the core voltage to 1.05mv and now runs fully stable at the stock 900MHz core

Likewise. Any game which has been released in the last few months plays perfectly fine on my system but BF3 will simply restart my PC completely, randomly. Sometimes it does it as soon as the first SP level loads up, sometimes it lets me play for 15-20 mins. No BSOD, no CTD's just a complete cold restart of my PC.

I'm stumped. I'd love to play this game but I'm not prepared to keep trying and possibly risking file corruption of my OS with these random restarts. :(

*Touch wood* game is pretty stable for me getting about 60-70fps on Ultra with the ATI AA (can't remember what it is called) on full instead of the MSAA at 1920x1200.

My biggest issue with the game is joystick/360 pad not working whatsoever...

Can anyone help? Thanks

one tinhg to try is disabling your onbaord sound card and then give it a try... if it works you know its a conflict with that.

also if the gtx 480 has HDMI driver installed for passing HD audio thorugh try uninstalling that.

I know others have had problems with onboard sound.

I get lockups starting new rounds every 3rd round or so. Completely different hardware to OP, a mate of mine has a completely different setup with an Nvidia card and gets the same. There are a few tweaks that have helped a little, but it's the game; It's broken

but then i have been playing it since it was released and have never had a lockup or crash so it cant be broken its either the person pc or a combination of the game and hardware.

Try upgrading to the new beta drivers that came out a few days ago. When you install it, go to Advanced rather than Express install and click "Create fresh install" (or something of that wording).

Well I agree to an extent but if you take a quick look around the thousands of threads all over the interwebz which have a similar "Y MY BF3 NO WORK!!!1!?" theme, you have to conclude there is something amiss. Have to disable this or that or changing hardware (which is fine for everything elsewhere) just to get into games reliably, would you not conclude the game is, even a bit, broken?

Good for you btw

Does your graphics card come with any manufacturer software or have you installed any other third party graphics card software?

I got the 'Battlefield 3 has stopped working' message every time I tried to play (never actually got into a game) and it turned out it was some Asus Gamer OSD software that came with my graphics card. Since uninstalling it I have had no further problems. I know you've got an nvidia card but it might be something worth considering...:)

If you are using vista or Windows 7 32 bit there is a fix that worked for me. When you log into Battlelog go to forums and type this in the search. Memory leak / 32 bit Windows / crash FIX. There is also a link that can help with other problems.

Just noticed you have Windows 32 bit and 4 GB of ram .If you follow the instructions to the letter I'm sure this will work for you.

But have you also got onboard sound? have you tried disabling it and seeing if it crashed? in beta i had the problem and replaced onboard sound with a asus d2x sound card and since have had no problems.

I was getting this a lot the last 2 weeks,
Nothing had changed in the computer no hardware / software changes and before this was working grand.
I am running Ati 6990 so uninstalled the drivers ran driver cleaner and installed new ones stil had the same issue,
Deleted the Battlefield 3 folder in Documents loaded the game and all good so far.
Why not give that a go.
