Battlefield 3 technical thread. Post in here for help with crashing/lock ups etc.

I was getting crashes/lockups/green flashes but I've sorted it. Turns out that my card was hitting 90 degrees :D Since I did a clean install I completely forgot to change the fan settings so it was constantly at 30%

Feel a wee bit silly now :D

Would anyone say that sounds about right for my card? 90 could cause crashes and lockups?

FIX FOR STUTTERING IN GAME:

If you have a hyperthreading CPU, go into your BIOS under "advanced CPU settings" look for "intel HT" or something that says about hyper threading... Disable it... go back in game and come back and say how well it worked

HT has been disabled on my i7 for a while now. Did sod all for my stuttering issues :/

This has probably been mentioned but...

CTD with Gigabyte OC 560Ti (BF3 minimises)
I updated the card firmware, didn't help, I then underclocked it to the default 560Ti clock speeds, and its been perfect since (3 days now without a single CTD).

OC Gigabtye settings
graphics clock 900
memory clock 2004

Default 560Ti settings
graphics clock 822
memory clock 2000

Hope it helps someone as it did me :)

Well mine is still crashing within a few minutes of playing both of SP and MP.

I just get the generic bf3.exe has stopped working. Sometimes I dont even manage to get into a server and it just crashes with a black screen!

Any ideas as I've tried just about everything I think!

Just spotted this possible fix on another forum, been having random crashes myself, applied this fix and played a few rounds just before problem free,

Run CMD as administrator,

Type bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2500

It should confirm the change.

Now, restart..

Worth a go for anyone with this issue.

I will give that a go today. Was playing fine on release and ever since they brought out new patches, ive ended up getting CTD's.. They fix others and break mine

Here too offer my help :)

I have been running the game absolutely fine with no crashes. I changed my sound options in game from HiFi too Home Cinema then all of a sudden the game started too crash. Changed it back to HiFi and happy days. This may help some of you.

When I first got the game I got disconnected everytime I tried to join a game, I disabled upnp on my router and works better.

It still takes me 3 attempts to get into a game, the first 2 times are disconnects.

I know you updated the firmware but have you got the latest release?

I have the Gigabyte 560 Ti OC and was having the same problems as yourself and read the details of the latest BIOS - it ups the load voltage to 1.04V (present 1.012V under load).

I haven't flashed my card as all other games don't seem to have a problem - so i've created profile within MSI Afterburner with a voltage setting of 1.038V which, thus far, seems to have cured my problem (CTD) for BF3.

I would check your load voltage (furmark) and if it's under 1.04V you may want to consider flashing the BIOS again or making your own profile.

If it 'is' running at 1.04V you could try upping it incrementally until it becomes stable - and if your happy with the final voltage keep it as your BF3 profile. If you feel it's too high you may want to consider contacting Gigabyte.

BF3 problems since day 1 :(

Hi Guys,

Can anyone help?

I bought BF3 on the first day and have the problem where the game would crash 2-5 minutes into the game on multiplayer. (Not tried the other game modes, always play online) I bought the disk so it's not a digital download.

I've tried:

1) Re-install punkbuster and updated
2) Removed Nvidia graphics driver using sweeper and re-installed in safemode
3) Repaired the game
4) Changed video settings from custom high medium

Computer is a Q6700 stock - Tried it on 3.4 also
GTX 480
4gb Crucial RAM
Rampage formula X48 MB
Raid 0 2* 160 WD

Any suggestions?

It's a Bf3.exe stopped responding crash. It freezes on the map and I have to control+Alt+Del it to return to the desktop and thats when it displays stopped responding.

Using the onboard sound with soundmax audio.

Cheers

Had the same, absolute waste of money for me as i've not managed to finish a full round. Locks up anywhere between 10 seconds and 5mins.

Getting constant disconnections with a mate trying to co-op on his end. Joining servers are better but still can have after about 15min or so a disconnection.

Have tried upnp disabling on the router, no joy tho. Tried changing dns from BeThere to google ones but still no go.

Any advice?
