Exactly this.

To make the game competitive, the game doesn't need modding in any way, shape or form. It would simply be different configs to run scripts on the server, in much the same way that BF2 does, and pretty much every other game out there. Competitive "Mods" are actually just config scripts loaded together to make it easier for you to manage, there is no "modding" going on whatsoever.

A mod is something that drastically changes the game, like CS is a mod of Half-Life; Project Reality is a mod of BF2, etc etc...

Some people clearly have no experience of managing / admin'ing servers lol :D

it depends on how it would be done doesnt it. yes a server config if they let you do it would be fine ;) have you had a bfbc2 server or medal of honor server ?

you can only do limited things making it less and less each time a game comes out cause its less likely to cause server side problems. well just have to wait and see.

as for admining servers been doing it for more years than i can remember in all the big games with numerous servers and many of them number one in the world in there type lol :p

I'm gonna have to eat my words... watched a few videos and read up on the game itself and it looks unbelievable. I'm not fussed with the multiplayer but from the SP footage it looks like it's gonna be some hard hitting stuff. Almost makes me lol at Crysis 2's attempt at decent graphics :D

oh dear removing weapons?

are you one of the people that demands removal of the awp in cs?

The awp was the most retarded piece of **** in any game ever. A game about tactics and skill and a gun that 1 hit kills if you hit your ****ing enemy in the toe, yeah right. Anyone using that gun just sucks too much to use a Scout.

It's more expensive than a scout, which makes it work perfectly fine in matches. Public play is a pointless mess which shouldn't be balanced around unless you want your game to end up like CoD.

lol even to this day the hatred of the AWP amuses me

There is nothing wrong with the using the AWP. People who object it to are just moaning minnies.

^ this.

BF2 didn't have one gun that ruled them all however, for want of better words, so I can't imagine BF3 to have one. Any tactic / any weapon / class can be countered with another tactic / weapon / class. Paper / Scissors / Stone

No, BF2 wasn't to bad, cast your eye back to bfv though, that was released with the original support class who came with an m60 and law AT. The m60 had the highest acuracy, damage and rate of fire on the game and you were even wary of going at them in a tank as it could be 1 shotted on the tracks with the law. For several weeks until patch 1 you only ever saw support class US players who duly quit when the teams swapped. It was bad.

I hope I'll be able to run this game on my GTX 460, if not I'll have to sell my GTX 460 and buy a 6950 and flash it.

Anyone have any idea what requirements you'll need to play this game?

been asked many times but we won't know for sure until it's out. you'll definitely be able to play it, of course, but you might find you have to run it with lower settings than you'd like. but that's the nature of mid-range cards like that. BFBC2 is very demanding, so I would expect BF3 to be even more so.

Funny, I always thought people who use the awp are just noobs who can't use all the other guns that require actual skill rather than just landing a hit anywhere.

I always thought people bought it as why wouldn't they use one of the best guns at their disposal. People who say they are noons who just can't scout are being a bit short sighted, why purposely use a worse gun especially in a match?, thought the idea is to win.

Because in a CSS setting the gun is an unbalanced pile of crap? A single bullet that just needs to hit you and bang, you're sat out for the rest of the match, its not like an AK that actually needs a headshot. Would be like BF3 getting an automatic gun that can 1 hit kill everything with a 12x scope. It would be in the game right? Therefore its good.
