For me, work is a PhD. Due to circumstances beyond my control I'm a year behind, my funding runs out in September and I've got an undergradaute to babysit all Thursdays and Fridays until June. Taking random days off is not really an option for me I'm afraid! One of my friends usually works weekends and makes me feel bad for not going in.

he asked if his 5850 was good enough for ultra settings = no at his res he needs to drop a res or play low. a 580 gtx will play at about 55 fps on ultra
40 fps isnt really good enough . you should aim for 60 in fps minimum really.
the 5850 is a good little card i have one still and probably keep it as a back up card but for bf3 and decent settings its just too much. i dont know how many posted screenshopts of vram usage aswell and it has 1gig of vram.
no willwaving no bs its just not good enough can we just get on with the game talk now please

If vpn works then ile happily play and work but if I dont get the game till friday then I think ile have to take the weekend off. I have a rostered week off after the weekend also so might be worth it regardless.

You're right mate, a single 5850 is definitely not enough for 1920x1080 at decent settings. I get along just fine because I play at 1440x900 but 1920 on my brothers system, which is exactly the same as mine was unplayable for me, not terrible just not as smooth as I would like. My VRAM was hovering around 900mb usage at only 1440 res.

I told the girlfriend there is a rumor single player is released tomorrow and multi later this week.
It's really annoying for me as it's half term so if I want a good bash at the game the weekend is my only hope if I don't VPN.

Well for Ultra, then CF 6970's or 6990.
A single 6950/6970 will be fine for High going by what DICE said in that presentation. They recommended a 560Ti, which is pretty similar to the 6950.
