new drivers yes, expect a lot of improvement?
Not likely.
game seems to have improved to retail, further optimizations along the way might make a few fps here and there but its requirement also are high especially in the cpu category.
medium should be fine.
a 5850 is a good card.
as one stated, they run it good with 8xAA which just simply isn't possible due to the vram buffer would run out of ram on a 1gb card. game requires over 1.5gb ram at ultra in beta likely means high in retail.

I run eyefinity, and found the nf3 beta basically crushed my settings, bc2 run just fine at 100fps at average.
I hope for slightly better with retail but don't except any miracles.
I run all low to max out fps.

The game will run fine and look pretty much the same across the board no matter the setting people choose to use, I am busy myself finding the enemy than look at the trees and wind and birds and the sky and ground etc...so I could kill them.

I never understood why people are unsure and worry before a game is out?

I just created an account there to preorder BF 3 limited edition and using firefox (latest) I completed the transaction using my northern bank debit card, however whilst the transaction was being done and just finished I think after entering my securerom/northern bank pass, I was brought to a page bad gateway, time out 505 error (iirc) and I have just gone and checked my bank account to see if the money was taken, which it has been, however I have not received the game code or any emails notifying me of a purchase.

I have submitted a ticket/request.


Do you think they will get it sorted ok and before the 25th?

Do we still have to keep VPN on when we launch the game tomorrow or can I uninstall VPN and it's staying on 24/10 forever?

edit: Just tried again without VPN. It says 28/10. So it looks like you will need to enable VPN to launch the game :)
I think it's only once the game's unlocked for the first time, once it unlocks tomorrow you won't need to do the release day check again.

Were you card details incorrect/out of date/no funds?
I ordered in sept and I just received an email saying ..well, they don't say I have it, or haven't, just.. has my order date, billing address, card I used(last 4 digits).

Just that I've placed an order in sept...and I will be billed on date of dispatch, which is also what they said in sept. So what's new? Argh.

It's not always the same date all over the world, it may be 24th here but 8-10 hours ahead in the rest of the world? Derp :p
