If they can match the 128 players joints ops had, and the fact that bullets went where you aimed in joint ops, and shooting a man kills him, like in joint ops, IT WILL BE AWESOME!

Go play Joint Ops tbh :p

Im just hoping for 64 players, jets, squads (Min. 6 man, 4 man squads in BC2 are a joke!) and commanders back :(

Ideally, 128 players, MASSIVE maps (But also scalable like in BF2), 8-10 man squads and a perfect VOIP system like in Steam games and I will be in gaming heaven!

I doubt very much prone is back seeing as the destruction system in bc2 made it akward to implement. I also hope its not back as it just gets abused in these games. Considering the amount of snipers in bc2 and prone not being in the game imo its really not something thats needed for bf3. If they do put it in theyre going to have it make it really slow to go to prone as the infantry combat in bf2 was nothing but a total joke with it.

Its hard to say if 64 players is even a necessity, if you think about Bf2 it seemed more often than not you ran into small groups of enemies spread out over the map, it never really seemed that there was 64 players in most of the maps.

Im personally not holding out much hope for this game, its clear by now that the team that made 1942 and BF2 no longer exists at Dice. Im hoping i will be proved wrong but its doubtful.

Well said, however it seems that their perception changed when CoD became a huge competitor, Im guessing they wanted something that appealed to a much wider audience rather than the ol' BF vets. Wider audience = More money. As you said, it may be that the old team that created 1942 and BF2 just dont exist at DICE anymore.

Please have Jets and
Seems like everyone wants the same stuff :p

I not even sure if Jets are that big of a deal. Looking at how dumbed down the Helicopters are in BC2 they took a ton of manouvarability from them, the helicopters in NAM might as well have drool coming out of the painted teeth on the front as they are really seem to be setup for people with 1 quarter of a functioning braincell.

The heli's in Bf2 handled really well but had their own issues, especially that tv missile which just became far too powerful when people got the hang of it. Was even worse when single pilots were doing the seat switching routine and could take down an enemy heli and have time to switch back to the pilot seat.

Jets though, looking at the above i dread to think how they would handle in BF3. Personally i always seem them as a bit pointless, most of the time it was just planes engaging in their own litle seperate war totally ignoring what was going on down below. Almost reminds me of snipers in TF2 on the map 2fort, they engage in their own little sniping duels and rarely if ever help influence the outcome of a game.

Id much prefer to see naval vehicles working in the game rather than planes, in 1942 you could pummel the land with battleship cannons and that contributed to taking out enemies and helping cap areas. Be interesting to see if ships are controllable again and if cruise missiles can be launched onto land areas.

The one interesting thing is everyone is assuming BF3 will still be modern era, thats something i don't think has been confirmed or denied.

They should include all maps from BF2 and DC... Loved CTF on |Lost Village.

Id actually forgotten about CTF in the Battlefield games. Had some epic flag battles on El Alamein in '42 and Id love to see BF3 give us a few maps of that sort of scale. They could use the BF2 system that cropped the maps to give console players a smaller version if necessary.

Hahaha now that is funny:D.

Can't wait for this. Read somewhere a dev saying that you'll want to play this on PC. So hopefully that means there will be more stuff in the PC version because it won't be a limited console port.

Enemy boat spotted!
That spam was the worst.

I'm just worried it will fall into the current genre of BC2/MOH/MW type games.
Yes, it's very popular, moreso with the younger generation and sells lots, but I miss the roots of the BF series, large(relative) maps, few loadouts and classes, vehicles, balls out action with teamwork that can make a difference.

Oh and I miss vehicles that not everyone could use (air vehicles), let those who were really good at it, shine.
Althought I agree, some times they just weren't nice to have in some maps and were better off non existant.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but i do hope it doesn't move away from BF2 too much. Either way, people (pc gamers mostly as that all they ever ******* do) will moan.

"It sucks, it feels just like BF2 but with better graphics. It's nothing new, i'm sticking with BF2"

or

"It sucks, it feels just like BC2 but with bigger maps. Maps are too big etc etc"

And what's all this talk about some of you saying "if BF3 is ****, my pc gaming days are over?" FFS, there are plenty of threads about pc gaming dying, i wonder why? Get your act together lads, it's not the end of the world if a single game turns out crap. :)

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Hopefully it will be great. If it isn't...meh.

All games have bad maps though and usually it is prefrence. The BF2 size I felt was nice. Some maps were smaller/in a city and others were much larger for aerial combat/wide open spaces. Zatar Wetlands or something I used to not like was too open for my liking :D.

Here is a link to the Lead Designer saying "You are gonna want BF3 on PC"

Also there is a possible hint to it being WW2 era based. Thread Here talks about it a bit.

Oh, one thing I would like to see from BC2 is Rush. Not in it current format but I do love push objectives, pretty sure they had them in 1942 maybe Forgotten Hope used them most.

I would like the planes to be easier to shoot down. On BF2 I didn't go on the maps with planes as if a good pilot got in one then they were pretty much flying the whole round with zero deaths.

In general just a nice balance of power really.

the thing that gave the jets and helicopters the ability to rape a map up in the hands of a good pilot/crew was the failure of EA to put in a decent Anti-Aircraft system. The Stingers/ iglas were just too unreliable and had a lock on range that was far too short, and the ship-born gatling guns were like pea shooters.

If they put in decent anti air (which they have done in BCs actually), then they restore balance to the game.

I was a serious chopper whore, and I am praying that the keep the whole TV guided missile system in....it was ace! Happy memories of owning servers...... :)

(And before you all have a pop, gunning was the only thing I was good at in BF2. I stank big time at everything else, so theres your balance. I'd own you on Sharqi, and everyone owned me on Karky)

:)
