This view point is from HC, as I tend to only play hardcore.
I know what you're saying however:
- If the pump action person misses, he is dead.
- If he only clips the person and they survive then he'll be dead aswell.
- The pump action M870 has no real usable range with buckshot. It's meant to be good at close range, otherwise it's pointless. Remember, if you run into a room full of 4 people, you can spray those 4 with the AEK/FAMAS/F2000 and swipe them easily. You'll need to get 4 good hits with the shotgun and you have to wait for each reload.

What's close up? If important dieing to an 870 from 30+ feet after 1 shot something is wrong.

I happen to quite like the 870, it's true that you have to time it right to kill someone, but that's part of the challenge. Whilst I'm not against using the USAS, DAO or Jackhammer (once I've unlocked it). But there is a better sense of achivement knowing you've just cleared a room with a pump action.
Why? 30 feet really isn't all that far. That's only 10 metres. I can spit further than that, I'd expect a shotgun to be lethal that close
It kind of annoys me that of all the game play mechanics that people complain about, they are changing the one that A) Doesn't need changing and B) I've never once heard anyone make a single gripe about.
I swear to god, some people on this game irritate me so much.
Here is a list of the most annoying people out there.
MAV lifters on Tehran Highway. Sure have one or two up there, but it seems to me that nowadays you have at-least 20+ people up there.
When I get out to repair the tank it doesn't give you the right to drive off. I'm doing YOU a service, not anybody else.
Support people, drop freakin' ammo! Jesus Christ, it's your job!
Reviving on Conquest can be the difference between losing and winning. Do it more often.
When I smoke up an area don't just sit back, take it as an opportunity to break through.
Team/Squad Deathmatch doesn't necessarily mean that you don't have to revive people or drop ammo boxes. Infact doing so could help you win!
AND FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST, SQUAD UP APPROPRIATELY.
Playing earlier on and everyone, and when I mean everyone I mean EVERYONE was running Squad Sprint. What's the point!

I like to think I behave intelligently in regards to those most of the time. When I join a game I look for a squad with my average k/d so I'm not dragging down a good squad. I check what perks the squads using and the classes and spec myself appropriately. If my squads using vehicles I'll take the repair tool, if not then I'll use mines on conquest and EOD bot on rush for cheeky M-COM caps. I will leave cover to revive, but only as long as I'm not totally risking myself. Every time I stop I try to make sure I toss ammo or health.
This in no way makes me a great player, a 1.2 k/d and 1.4 w/l ratio proves it but I do try and be a team player as much as possible.
My only real gripe is when on maps like Op Firestorm all the tanks are sat at spawn with the other team in tanks.

On the homepage list of OCUK friendly servers; Could you add above each one whether or not it's an HC server?

prefer normal maybe the majority who play on matts server but remember matts isnt the only bf3 server on ocuk there are many more.
hc\/normal is worms everywhere so ill leave that alone
The EX MOD on battlelog has posted a vid claiming it shows he does not cheat, well you can hide your onscreen cheats these days and he has previous bans for cheating in other games, I still call hax. Is it possible to average 100+ kills a round and a one or two deaths without cheats and as infantry.

All I'll say on that, is that he is amazingly lucky that he never gets flanked, or has to even keep checking if he is flanked. Apart from when he does check at just the right time and enemies are there. Could just be the way he has edited the vid though...
also if you look metro is the only map he play which is so easy to rack points up on and also if thats all he plays i would exspect him to know where everone will hide after 216 hours lol

how do you change the squad text colour? ive seen a few vids where its changed to yellow, unless the compression has changed it?
hes dirty as hell .
i posted on another forum about him where hes a mod. claimed he was key logged twice for the aimbot hacks in cod4 which he happens to be one of the heads for in comp play at the highest level (probably helped him get his job with ea )
then i get message from ea mod saying hes never been banned or no records of him having any bans on any anti cheat site so i shown the admin the evidence he appologised and then edited my evidence and left it as he was clean 
i posted on bl my info edited again
