I agree that the new expansion pack is not true to the true spirit of battlefield, however B2K was and it was rubbish (IMO).
I think what would be cool is if they took the maps to the next level. I.e., bigger playable areas, more jets, helicopters. How much fun would it be to have 3 jets on your arse!!!
I guess they are just responding to the community regarding the popularity of Metro.

Not true to BF2 gameplay, nowhere near it, even so the maps are way better than the vanilla maps. As for the embarrassment that is DTM/DM with 8v8, this is purely EA wanting some more of that COD market, I mean a summer DLC consisting of CQC 8v8 for battlefield.

Most are slating the maps though. Apart from missing some features (spectactor,voip,decent commo rose) and being a bit buggy (like most bf titles were), there is a decent game under it all. It just the maps suck for a battlefield game. B2K holds the only decent maps.
Ahhhhh finally time for some bf3. Seem to do more work whilst on holiday than when I'm work!
Actually looking forward to the DLC. I prefer the smaller maps (don't all hurt me at once) like metro, bazaar etc anyway so this is sort of good news

lol, can't stand trekking a minute across a map to then be shot by a bush so I tend to stick to CQ maps if I can

It will be a new game type, hence the 16 players. Heck, even the console Conquest / Rush / Team Death match games are 24 players, so to go 8 v 8 they are blatantly just inserting a "COD" game type into the BF3 experience.
How good it will play or not i don't know but its certainly not the battlefield we all know and love. I may play BF3 on the console, but thats just because my PC is no longer good enough to play it. Back in he day i racked up 100s of hours on BF2 / BF2142 / BF1942 / BF1942 Desert Combat etc..
I can't help but agree with those complaining that this just isn't battlefield

Armoured kill sounds good. Mobile artillery !! something Battlefield has been begging to have ever since Trauma prooved it could work in Desert Combat For BF 1942.

I'm not saying it's right but things change. If BF3 was just the same as BF2 then we would be having a different conversation.
To be honest, what's wrong with a few more maps like metro. Metro's a blast sometime for run and gun type gun play. However I also love Caspian for flying, tank whoring etc.
I was on one of the metro maps and one guy was reported to be glitching he had a [CDR] clan tag, then another guy was reported to be wallhacking by a number of people again a [CDR] clan tag. Admin stepped in and was about to ban a guy he quickly left another [CDR] clan member :/.
I couldn't understand why I was being killed so easily in an area that should've not been in view, turned out a few of the CDR boys used the mav ride and glitched onto a roof point

Not impressed by this announcement.
The most annoying thing about it all is that we have to wait til mid summer to get any new content. So that's 3 months on the same old maps. Matty, you'll have to bring back B2K at some point to break up the monotony!
I also don't like that it's 16 player. Originally the first DLC was supposedly a 'US city' map pack, which would have been awesome, running around NY or wherever. But these are just small house-sized maps, which is rubbish.
And they had better release the patch before June. There are some things that really need to be sorted pronto in this game (e.g. frag rounds).
