love the red boxes so mine stays on f9 toggle for the win bally :D

but just to sooth your mind i stopped using the fxaa mod just after i used it :D

i only use it for single player :p

also nvidia added it to there drivers anyway and ati did the mlaa 2.0 or something like it in 12.4 . maybe the whining can stop and we can all red box together ;)

dice cant even get volting over a fence right and people think that slider works looool

RE the fxaa injector. This is official, from the punkbuster staff member at pbbans.

"No member of staff at Even Balance would give out any information on any silent detection we are running.

This one time i will say.
We have never had any detection in place to detect the Fxaa, if for any reason we do have to start to detect fxaa then it would be a restriction kick. "

So, its safe to use folks and at worst will become a restriction kick.

If my understanding is correct it works like this.

The slider when moved to the right adds a small amount of artifitial lag./delay whatever you call it, this will mean less visual errors on your screen as it has a bit more time to process what is actually happening. When moved to the left you get the opposite effect. A better ping and connection to the server but more chance of visual errors and in some cases you might see players spinning around or whatever as the client has to guess whats going on.

If that theory of mine is correct (probably not :D) then for low ping servers you should have the slider to the right, and for higher ping servers have the slider to the left.

Who's with me?

Thats how it should work. However when im on a low ping server with a ping off 22 I still see people slide over my screen from time to time. Same with slider to the left. Therefor placebo./

my point is not that you will get banned for it, but that i raised the issue that it changes the colour pallette slightly making it easier to see opponents...

the type of AA i.e fxaa was just subterfuge to claim that the hack was legit and simply increased performance by utilising something other than MSAA...

Now that FXAA is in the drivers, then you dont need to use the hack at all, IF you only used it for better performance etc...Yes we'd all like to be able to see opponents hiding in blackness by tweaking the colours/contrast to make them stand out like in BC2...but really BF3 went to great lengths to stop this and people are just reverting it:/

your moaning about something thats included in normal graphics drivers ?

what do you use please tell me you dont use nvidia or i will just sit laughing hard for ten minutes :D

if you wouldn't classify it as a hack ? it is commonly referred to as a hack. sure you might prefer 'injector' so what its an injected hack.

if fxaa is just a form of anti aliasing how come this hack impacts colour palette? you are misrepresenting fxaa as a technology by stating that the injector only adds fxaa ..

I tell you what:

1. Report every one here who uses this "hack" on BL and see what happens
2. Install this add on http://getbblog.com/ and add everyone that uses this "hack" to your radar list so you can avoid us "pros" :p :D
3. Or you can simply install it yourself so then you are on a "level playing field"

My k/d, score etc. is no different to what it was before I used this injector, the only difference is that the game is more enjoyable to play as it actually has some form of colour rather than a dull grey blue tainted look everywhere and thus my eyes no longer get strained as badly when I was on the game for a hour or 2.

It appears that you are the only person who thinks it is a hack, PB and DICE themselves have said they won't ban anyone for using it (and if any action does happen, it will just be a kick until it is removed).

By disable, I've meant to put that slider all the way to the left. As LtMatt put it, that particular settings adds a tinny delay for the right "stuff" to appear on screen. To test it, go on some map with a fence and use your knife to hit it. With little to no compensation, the fence will break almost immediately after the hit, but adding a delay, it should take a more significant amount of time for the effects of the knife hit to be seen.

Translated into game experience, turning that setting to the left is equal to less lag, turning it to the right, the games lags - like shooting a guy that dies only after a half a second or even a second afterwards.

As a side effect, without smooth factor enabled to a reasonable degree, some animations may look off (stuttering), but it shouldn't really affect anything important: just the knife animation, some death rolls on kill cams, that sort of stuff. I for one, can't play with that awful compensation.

Thanks, I'll give this fence thing a try but tbh I think I'd prefer the thing to happen when it happens rather than add additional lag to an already 70-90 ping from Moscow! Guess I'll have to put up with stuttery knife kills.

Anyone having issues with random crashes to desktop after the patch? Im finding the picture will lock up, but the sound keeps playing and then after a couple of seconds the game crashes to desktop, but is still running (as if it was minimized). If i try to click back into it my mouse cursor disappears but nothing else happens.

I'm running a i7 2600k, and a 6950 2gb. Before the patch it was perfectly stable and now it crashes all the time.

yeah I had this issue random, 580GTX,

I thought it was the driver, I am running since yesterday Nvidia 301.24Beta....

played for 8 hours not even a single crash.

I've seen something similiar like that before.

Sometimes, when the moment catches you, you just need to get dirty and get on down and boogie. What better map for it than the good old Metro and the Russian side pin.

Yep....Been getting that on my GTX 460 (Oc'd to 850Core/2000Mem)

297 drivers I think.......Trying the 301's tonight or tomorrow....So tired I might just pass out when I get in through the door.

+1....

Can anyone post steps on how to get the MSI Afterburner OSD to work after applying the FXAA injector?

To make Afterburner work with the mod you need to create a profile for BF3 in afterburner OSD. Then go to

C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI Afterburner\Bundle\OSDServer\Profiles

Edit the BF3.exe.cfg and replace the 'hooking' section with this:

Code:
[Hooking]
EnableHooking=1
EnableFloatingInjectionAddress=1
EnableDynamicOffsetDetection=1
HookLoadLibrary=0
HookDirectDraw=0
HookDirect3D8=1
HookDirect3D9=1
HookDXGI=1
HookOpenGL=1

Save exit etc and voilà!

Thanks to CK88.......Copy, Pasta and Spaghetti

Played a few rounds over the weekend with the new patch.

Game is broken.

I play on Wonka/64 Player/Caspian. I play a mixture of Engineer/Assault. I have been playing since release and I am in the top 3 players on that server.

Air units running wild, the top Heli pilots (TruLexor, Tag4da) getting up to 150 kills per round with less than 10 deaths on a 1000 ticket map.

They can clear a whole server (rage-quit) of players in about 10-15 minutes from round start, its killing the game.

Igla/Stinger useless.

I felt so strongly I even posted on the Battlefield forum, along with 20,000 other posters.

Sort it out DICE !

No... too long winded

Download
http://downloads.guru3d.com/MSI-Afterburner-2.2.0-Beta-15-download-2884.html

Make sure your osd is actually turned on via the monitoring settings

Load up the OSD, click the PLUS sign and direct it to the bf3 exe

Click the spanner top right hand corner and make sure the second box from the top is ticked ( enable compatibility with modified Direct3D runtime libraries ). Also make sure the OSD for BF3 is actually enabled don't need it globally!

That's it
