One of many noob questions, but what do you lot mean by capping the flag?

I believe:

In Conquest game type, there are 'flags' (unsually/always A, B, C, D, E?).

The game starts each team with a number of tickets. you lose 1 ticket per death, and if one team controls more of the flags than the opposition, the team with fewer flags steadily loses tickets. First team to 0 tickets loses the match.

Capturing ('capping') a flag is done by standing nearby it. As long as you have more people near a flag than the enemy, the flag will gradually change to being owned by your side.

There are 3 states - owned by team A, neutral, owned by team B, so it takes longer to capture an enemy-owned flag than a neutral one because it goes to neutral first, then over to your team.

Yeh I play conquest ever day pretty much, I know how it works :D but I mentioned noob so that's my fault, sorry. :)

It was just the term I was confused by, now it's explained I wish I spent an extra 3 seconds thinking about it as it's pretty bloody obvious isn't it :D

I would adjust the bit that says you lose a ticket per death, as it's not strictly true. You lose a ticket when you spawn following a death. Knowing that has come in very important when playing tight games.

Being resurrected (like Jesus, except not after 4 days) doesn't cost you team a ticket either. I've seen and been part of games where the team that rezzes the most had won, not the team with the best K/D ratio.

yeah a tight team that rezes a lot will win. each ticket matters if you not sure don't lose it or hope your medic is reviving you.

I agree with Dg, id like to see more fluid movement in bf4. In bf3, you get caught up in some really stupid obstacles. And yes you can get a bad luck death sometimes. In bfbc2, movement was more fluid, but obviously no strafing and moving at once. But despite its perceived slower movement, bfbc2 can be a lot better to play.

I took a break from bf3 lately, basically i got fed up with the infantry and groundvehicle imbalance. Air power in this game is a different matter. In a round last night, whacked 7 rpg rounds into an lavd vehicle, it just kept on coming. No one repairing it, (hc server) seen it before, put 4 smaw rounds into a hummvee, and it was still moving. Is it any wonder the most popular map in bf3 currently is metro, (which in my opinion is an abomination). The vehicle domination has put people off, hence they fall back to inf only.

Damn that's odd? In HC with no repairs vehicles should be easily dealt with. ANY time I step into a humvee even if the vehicle survives one RPG takes me out.

Oh another pet peev! Waiting, hidden for a lav/tank to pass so I can shoot it up the tail pipe only to have a team member join me and jump out in front of the vehicle giving away our position and getting us both killed.

.

what really erks me about it the movement like the vault is from mirrors edge ! yet some claim its realistic and such it was cause they had the animation already done not because its bf haha. people lap up whatever devs say and just yeah that is realistic or great when its just not really fitting with the game.

first thing ill be looking at in bf4 beta is the movement and how its improved or if same.

Personally I don't find the movement, animations to be a problem. You just don't ever bunny hop and jump over obstacles as you if you encounter someone around the corner or whatever, you are pretty much screwed (unless they are very close to you during the jump over animation), so take the long way around the fence, plant box etc. :p

BC 2 feels incredibly clunky in comparison, you feel like you have a big rubber band attached to you :p That is the only area of bc 2 that pales in comparison to bf 3 imo.

Battlefield 3 is a flawed masterpiece that I love so much. BF4 hopefully will be another masterpeice without restricted...............Great Video Gaming History...........

So what do you do when you click the Bf3 shortcut and instead of automatically opening the Battlelog browser, it asks for permission to open origin and so you then have to click to play BF3 from there, and of course, it refuses to join any servers?

Usually I just say 'sod you then' and do something else until it sorts itself out at some random point, but for once, I actually want to play the damn game.

Anyone?

ED: Never mind, I just did a repair install and it turns out I need to download 6.3Gb of whatever to sort it out.

This ******* game...  Worked perfectly yesterday.
