Caporegime
I was watching someone playing it on YT, maxed out at 4K, on a 2080 Ti, and it was dropping into the 30s.

Yes, much better performance than my GTX 1080 (my 2080 Ti is broken). At least 20-30 FPS more.Yep Vega doing very nice in BFV, it seems to be right up on the heels of 1080ti/2080 territory.
My post from Vega 64 thread from yesterday.

And this surprises you, have you not looked at some of the bench threads lately. modern AAA games are tough to run at 4k.
For example: Shadow of the Tombraider bench here.

Yes it may seem misleading but the point still stands, modern AAA games are hard to run at '4k max settings'.That's a misleading example seeing as it is done with SMAA 4x. Sure, you could bump resolution scale to 200% and say 4K is hard to run and not be entirely wrong (after all, you can count it as super-sampling) but it's really 8K. When run with more reasonable AA like TAA, it's very close to 60 and would achieve it with an OC. In any case, that's SotTR which is one of the harder to run games, much like DX:MD before it, but BF V has phenomenal performance.
DICE said early RTX support in upcoming patch should be out in next few days before Battlefield V Deluxe Edition release on 15 November 2018.
It's been a while so memory is failing me...but ain't the current/latest Frostbite Engine wasn't built from ground up with dx12 in mind, but just dx12 support which Dice added to their existing Frostbite Engine as an "add-on"?Nope DX12 is poor for everyone. This is one engine that struggles with DX12 and I have no idea why.
Frostbite has always performed horrible with DirectX 12, it was only Mantle that did excellent vs DirectX 11. I have no idea why they are struggling to get DirectX 12 working correctly, its a stutter fest.
Terrible, just terrible on the GTX 1060 and the RX 580 is much faster.Them frame times on 1060
