BBC possibly to drop F1 coverage...

8k signatures on the petition, not that it will make a difference. Going to look at adjusting my Freesat dish to pick up the old satellite and see what the EU coverage is like (with 5Live radio for commentary). Long way off though.

Does anyone know if you can get TopUpTV on either Windows Media Centre with a DVB-T card or on a Sony Bravia TV? I assume it requires additional hardware of some sort?

sky doesnt own the TF1 group who own eurosport

hmm, ok I must be confused with it becoming part of the sky package.

this is what google found me.

'Eurosport shareholders are TF1 (34%), Canal + (33%) and ESPN (33%) in partnership with members of the EBU, including the BBC. Premium TV has invested in the creation of British Eurosport by way of a contractual joint venture. Premium TV is backed by telecoms and media group NTL'

I would still question their neutrality though.

They spawned from a Sky owned channel in the late 80's. They have not been owned by Sky since 1991.

But yes, they do rely heavily on Sky as a broadcast network, so I wouldn't expect anything they say to be neutral.

No, they do not have this option. Bernie himself after those news reports. Said that was his knew idea and nothing but an idea. But somehow sold it to whitnarsh. So untill there is a change of contract. It is extended high ores about 50mins.

Bernie explicitly told David Croft on the 5 Live Preview for the Hungarian GP (which might still be on iPlayer if you want to check for yourself) that the BBC can show the full race if they choose to do so - I don't recall him mentioning it being just "an idea". Admittedly, though, this isn't going to happen due to what has been said by various BBC spokespeople.

Anyway, I'm not wishing to argue here or anything because I think it's quite clear that Bernie's been telling different people slightly different things. Despite what Bernie has or hasn't said regarding the matter, it's clear that the BBC has no intention of showing the race in full.

Can you not just pay for that 1 channel? Noticed in past that you can pay for a certain channel. Dunno about sports ones though.

It would be good if they only put it on one channel, but it is very likely it will be on different Sky Sport channels.

Alternatively:

Sky Go Monthly Ticket

With a Sky Go Monthly Ticket you can enjoy great TV from Sky online at home or on the go without an annual contract or dish. Watch up to 32 live channels - including Sky Sports 1-4, Sky Movies, Sky Atlantic, Sky 1 and more - plus hundreds of shows and movies on demand.

Sky Go Monthly Tickets will be available from August. Simply register your details to be one of the first to hear when it’s ready.

Yeah, so long as you have all the details then the only way to check would be via the IP address. Which wouldn't work at all.

Even if they were monitoring the IP address, it wouldn't matter. They're promoting the whole concept of Sky tv on the go, if you're accessing the service over mobile internet you could have a new IP address every time you logged onto the service!

They're already policing it by reducing it down to 2 devices from the previous 5, that's going to stop most people just giving out accounts I guess.

So you could go halves with a mate and both watch online from your respective homes.

Once the new Skygo is up and running, you can pay per month too, to online get sky sports the month F1 is actually on.
