Belgian Grand Prix 2014, Spa-Francorchamps - Race 12/19

They can only ban him if Wolff/Lauder admit what was said in the meeting. I can't see that happening as it would hurt Mercedes.

Yes your are correct.

But at the same time we have a situation where if Wolff and Lauda do not corroborate Hamiltons story, it could hurt the relationship with Hamilton even further.

So Rosberg has effectively admitted to causing an incident deliberately. Do we really think any penalty will be imposed? (personally, no).

Depends on the circumstances of when he said it and what was being said. For all we know they could have been having a bitch fight and he hit back with that. If he said it calmly then he's really not that bright at all. That's hamilton levels of thick to say that.

Personally sick of the pair of them and at the start of the year I'd have been more than happy for either to win the title. I hope they both DNF all year and Ricci wins it, hell I'd actually be happy for Vettel to take it.

Agree. Hamilton should've just kept quiet and let the team deal with it although he seemed to think the team would ignore it in his interview earlier which wasn't a very bright thing to say either. They now have to confirm what he said and hurt Rosberg or deny what's been said and leave Hamilton out to dry.

If I was Rosberg after hearing the childish and unprofessional outbursts of lauda and Wolfe I would be thinking why bother racing for the team and race for myself. Quite clearly the Mercedes management are not up to running a team...

I have never seen anyone on here or anywhere ever say Senna didn't deserve a title because he was a cheat and so his title was flawed and senna admitted he did it on purpose.

Yet I have never seen anyone say "well actually senna only won 2 titles as he cheated for one of them"

No one cares, no one says Schumacher actually won 6 and Hill 2.

Yea okay.

Keep calling things wrong and not seeing for how it is. Let your bias keep getting in the way.

After watching ringside Nigel ben and him saying I want to be remembered as always giving value for money, I reckon Hamilton should be rememmbered the same way. Never a dull moment with him.

What, I've never seen team managers respond well to team mate collisions, ever, their responses were professional. They didn't call out Rosberg totally nor scold him, they said it was unacceptable, it was unacceptable. Pretending it didn't happen would have been unprofessional.

Rosberg is cheating when he gets put under pressure, he is acting irresponsibly and very unprofessionally.

Something people are forgetting is that if he meant to hit him, had the contact gone much worse it could have taken both cars out, and other cars ploughing in behind them without much warning, people could have been hurt. Intentionally causing contact on another car is an incredibly bad thing to do. It doesn't really matter how minor the contact is, or the outcome, the chance of a serious outcome from potentially causing a multi car crash is something you just do not do.

The FIA should whack him hard, but I'm not sure they will.

It's a good thing McLaren and Ferrari haven't confirmed drivers yet, as there's bound to be a seat opened at Mercedes, and given the tone of Wolff and Lauda today, I suspect the Mercedes lawyers are currently in the process of shredding Rosberg's contract.

I'll go out on a limb - Rosberg to replace Button again.

In both of the most recent brawls (Red Bull and McLaren with Prost and Senna) the one doing much of the offending (Vettel and Senna) were the team's darlings. And I remember Ron Dennis coming out and publicly blaming Prost at one point, but by then it was already decided that Prost was on his way.

Which bias would that be?

Ok how about you show me someone recently saying Senna didn't deserve his last title and he cheated. I can't think of a single time on here where anyone has called his 1990 a "losers title" as you called it if Rosberg wins.

losers title is the wrong word but the championship has been tainted by the way it was won.

Alonso at Merc would be fantastic, they'll fight too but it will be clean, there might be contact but there won't be the same cheating in qualifying incidents.

I could see Merc going for a weaker second driver though to avoid similar situations :p

If I was Hamilton I wouldn't want Rosberg sacked. Why would you want a driver that 95 times out of a hundred you can out race. He could end up with Alonso or someone else genuinely good.

It soon becomes old news, Hakkinens titles where won by being the driver to the first corner and Ron did his level best to upset and make sure DC knew he was just the teams dog. I bet if you knew the inner workings of most championships/cars/teams there would be something most of them.

It's soon forgotten and we roll onto the next year.

Rosberg hasn't won anything yet but what if he does a Vettel and goes on to win the remaining races at a canter and ends up with a 100 point advantage over Hamilton? Would you still remember it as a tainted title for a few incidents mid season that ended up having no bearing on the title?
