Belinea 102035W

Call Of Duty 2 definitely supports 16:10 aspect, which is what 1680 x 1050 effectively is. I think that most games are now starting to support the widescreen aspect, so you should be fine with recent games.

I had one of these delivered today, I have also RMA'd a Dell 2005FPW a month or so ago due to bluring and backlight issues.

My initial thoughts:

No DVI cable included with the monitor (The Dell had one as standard).
The image quality on the Belinea is superior to the Dell (even on Analog compared to Dells DVI).
The colours are great and vibrant and "owns" my mid range CRT.
The build quality and overall looks were better on the Dell, but only slightly.
The Belinea does not have the option to show screens in letter box format, it always stretches a smaller image to fill the screen. The Dell you could stretch or play a game with borders.

I had 1 dead pixel on the Dell.
I have at least 8 dead pixels (...stopped counting) on the Belinea so I will at least be getting a new one if I decide to stick with the model.

The Dell had bad backlight probs, this Belinea does not.

I can still see motion bluring in games like BF2, WOW etc, but the IQ is so much better I may be able to forgive.

Will OCUK replace monitors with dead pixels? This will be my first LCD and I want it to be perfect :D

Right very mini review

As mentioned above no DVI cable comes with the screen so all tests done with VGA

I thought the eariler mention of the stand being stiff to bend was an exagiration but it really is a brown trouser moment.

Switched off the PC connected the VGA and power cable rebooted and voilla my screen resolution that couldnt be moved above 1280x1024 before now went all the way up to 1680x1050, no extra drivers needed

I viewed the three pics on the monitor review template all colours including white are vivid crisp and clear.

Black is really good for a TFT backlight bleed is present but minimal.

I have yet to see any ghosting although there is a fair bit of tearing most noticeable in the Matrix video. I think this may be to do with the settings on my 6600GT as I watched a HD trailer for T2 with my 7800GTX and never seen any tearing at all.

I ran the LCD test program I dont know if I was doing it right as the result was 7-8ms (I expected it to be higher)

I had a quick blast of BF2 in single player and adjusted my resolution using the shortcut the game looked fine at that resoloution and everything played as well as my 13ms 17" TFT there was just more screen. My 7800 GTX still runs everything at max with this resolution which is nice !

Never even bothered to try the speakers as im sure they will be rubbish cant hold this against the screen though.

Build quality overall seems very good although the buttons on the front feel a little cheap.

My recommendation is GET IT BOUGHT! :D

Thats it for now folks but if anybody has any questions ar want me to do any more specific pics or tests just ask.

I'm pobably gonna get one. though I don't know how it will handle on my 6600GT.

As long as it plays BF2, HL2 and Black & White 2 with good performance

Otherwise, I'll stick with a Samsung 19" model

I love the 90 degrees pivot thing on the Gateway and it seems to have more features than the Belinea, so I'd probably go for the Gateway. I just wish they sold them here, for that price!

Well I've just ordered one of these monitors! Thanks for the mini review sgoaty, it made my mind up. I'm just praying for a dead/lazy pixel-free screen now!!

I'll tell you what I think of the monitor when I get it. Hoping I will get it tomorrow, as it is next day delivery.

how well does this scale down, for us with older graphics cards please?

regarding the speakers, they are there for windows alerts, YGM anouncements etc
I would rather have them than not, means you dont have to have full power speakers turned on all the time.
I find it slightly annoying when built in speakers get criticised for being rubbish, would gamers really want huge woofers vibrating away at the sides of an LCD screen?

good point i have a 9600 Pro will i get full screen Resoloution ?

Im thinking of getting the Belinea 102035W 20.1" Widescreen LCD but I just want to check do you think this would be good for games? As I play Half life 2 and it does not seem have the screens native res in its options would this be a problem?

Thanks

Half life 2 definately supports 1680x1050.
SC04 I was stating that the on screen speakers are rubbish as they generally are, not a critisim of this or ant other TFT with built in speakers because as you say if all you want is windows alerts then they will do fine. So there is no need to get "annoyed"

So are you still happy with the monitor sgoaty? Have you had chance to give it a good run-in?

Just had the confirmation email that mine has been shipped, so I should get it tomorrow!!!

My 2 sons are pleased anyway, cause they are getting my Hyundai Q17+. They love it when I get new stuff, so they can get my old stuff.
