Benetiz confirms he leaves at the end of the season

As much as I'd love to simply call Chelsea supporters (well most of them) ****s, it's not that straight forward.

Between 2004 and 2007 a bit of a rivalry built up between Liverpool and Chelsea, mainly from Chelsea's side (but that's usually the case, small clubs have more hate in them) and although there's been a lot of false quotes and exaggeration, Benitez did say some things that would **** off Chelsea supporters. Regardless of how irrational Chelsea supporters hatred towards Benitez (or at least the level of hatred) is it was ridiculous of RA, and a big **** you to Chelsea supporters from him, to appoint Benitez.

All clubs have their ****heads and given half a reason, a lot of sensible supporters act like morons too. That said, the level and constant abuse he's got has been a surprise and like Trusty says, Benitez hit the nail on the head with what he said tonight; the abuse he's getting doesn't help Chelsea and Benitez is going in the summer anyway so what do they hope to achieve? As Benitez said (and it raised a smile from me), next season he'll be gone and they'll be watching Chelsea in the Europa League.

I was waiting for someone to chip in and say this, you've got a very valid point about words exchanged between managers/clubs/players, this happens all the time as we know...surely though fans have got to realise its just slating, like cricket, nothing is meant by it at the end of the day, it's mind games. It's what gives football a great uniqueness.

Football is a cauldron!

I don't think there are many managers that are capable of keeping the dressing room onside, however Di Matteo was one of those few and Chelsea got rid of him...

Chelsea are pretty much doomed unless they can get Mourinho or Hiddink back :p

I actually don't see what the bloke has done wrong, if Chelsea fans are unhappy they should direct their anger at the Chelsea board.

when rafa was Liverpool manager (wish he came back) he mentioned something about the chelsea fans :D something about being plastic was it ? heh

but RDM's league record was absolutely woeful.

Rafa's heart is still in Liverpool FC. It was never going to work for him at Chelsea but when you get offered a job as big as that you aren't going to say no.

I feel a bit sorry for him in a way and what he says is absolutely correct.
The fans who keep abusing him aren't helping the team & that's what matters most, they should put their energy in to doing that instead.
It's obvious he's going at the end of the season and it's obvious he's not bothered by the abuse so it's probably time to lay off him.
Fair play to him for correcting the vermin in the media on more than one occasion too by pointing out that it's not all Chelsea fans, it's a group of them.

I feel proper sorry for him being payed so little & getting booed whilst he works. S'pose he'll leave now & get another poorly paid job elsewhere.
You really do have to feel sorry for these poor managers & footballers who work in the Premier league.

I feel a little sorry for him. It’s not his fault that RDM got sacked or that he got offered the job and we have all known that the job is only until the end of the season and nothing more. He’s right about the fans and their abuse not being good for the team, himself or the club.

It is only a small group who are responsible and they can’t see what they are doing because of their blinkered hatred of him and the Liverpool correction. Maybe they should question why the appointment was made in the first place. Don’t you just love the fickle world of football.

It's never bothered me him getting the job & I would not be one of those giving him stick but I still would never feel Sorry for a Manager or Player who gets stick off fans even if they are retarded chavs.
Jeering etc is par for the course in football & to be bothered by it after years in the game is pathetic.

Can't see what he has said is wrong? As echo'ed by others including Chelsea fans the constent booing of him can't help the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge, and by naming him interim manager how is that going to motivate the players into doing a job for someone who you know isn#'t going to tbe there in 6 months time?

To move forward chelsea really need to get rid of the old guard, luckily they are all near retirement age now.

Hope he does, it's nothing more than he deserves. Sold himself out to join Chelsea and has embarrassed himself with his constant defence of Torres.

Behave

Heard Appleton is ready for a new challenge...

Rafa was silly to take the job but the position they find them selves in is the product of one mad owner with no real plan for football other than to just throw money at it at an alarming rate. Sort of hope they finish 5th now to see what happens.

interesting point made on talksport this morning, forget the guys name but he believes that chelsea for Roman is just a property ownership guise and he isnt really too bothered about the club itself - he brought up the points about the bitter battle for battersea power station etc.
