Benetiz confirms he leaves at the end of the season

I was waiting for someone to chip in and say this, you've got a very valid point about words exchanged between managers/clubs/players, this happens all the time as we know...surely though fans have got to realise its just slating, like cricket, nothing is meant by it at the end of the day, it's mind games. It's what gives football a great uniqueness.

Football is a cauldron!

It's not that simple. Maybe between managers it's slating but supporters, especially when your passion and/commitment is being questioned, are going to take it personally. You still see comments from Liverpool supporters aimed at Moyes after he came out with the 'peoples club' line when he got the Everton job.

As I initially said though, the level and constant abuse he's getting is ott.
interesting point made on talksport this morning, forget the guys name but he believes that chelsea for Roman is just a property ownership guise and he isnt really too bothered about the club itself - he brought up the points about the bitter battle for battersea power station etc.

I'm sure there are many non-football reasons as to why RA bought Chelsea but I don't think you can accuse him of not caring. The constant hiring and firing of managers, while in many people's views was stupid, it's a clear sign that he's bothered about the performances on the pitch. It would be much easier for him to have done nothing if he didn't care. His reaction to winning the CL was very telling too.

It's only only as complicated as you want it to be tho, it's like offensive jokes i suppose. But yeah, it's just extremely ott for what is just some simple mind games to win a match. There's bigger fish to fry in the world.

See most people jumping to the support of that poor poor man Benitez.

Do people remember him crying about being called interim when he was appointed, no, do people remember him asking for the full time job after a short run of games and only being 6 points behind Utd, I do, he wasn't talking about interim then. Now he's what, 19 points off Utd what, 2 months later, after failing to win the crap club cup, after two months of dire performances, dropping 13 points on Utd, getting closer to 5/6th than 1st, pushing the team the wrong way, backing Torres to see it utterly fail, now all of a sudden its everyone else fault.

Same old Benitez, and same old fans who jump on Chelsea like chopping and changing managers can't ever bring success... despite Chelsea's past decade proving that to be nonsense.

Interim, if you think a single player at the club cares about words after manager, you're wrong. He's the manager, thats all that matters, he could be called the full time manager and get fired tomorrow, or the interim and not leave for 3 years, its a word. The problems are on the pitch, in training, and in his tactics.

He's as crap as he was at the end of his Liverpool run, his time at Inter, the MULTIPLE jobs he's been fired from before.

As for RA buying Chelsea for property purposes.... he's written off around a billion in loans to them already hasn't he, its not like he's got 40 billion and that is utterly nothing to him. Battersea park would have meant more like another half a billion out of pocket and then a Chelsea with the potential to break even long term, not make insane profits, after selling off Chelsea's current ground it would be very unlikely he'd make a profit factoring in Battersea power station renovation/complete change to a stadium, and then a bit of property development, and no way you spend a couple billion to make a few hundred million as your entire goal as being at Chelsea, its utterly insane to even suggest it.

The bitter battle of the thing was greedy Chelsea guys wanting a handout from Roman, when he just wants to see the club long term self financing.

Benitez is a bit rubbish and has been for some time, he only had success at Liverpool with Houliers squad and it was downhill from there, before then his last success was, 2004? 19 points behind Utd, playing worse by the week, Benitez melts down and blames everyone but himself..... standard.

Are you saying the fans are right to be doing what there doing?

How many trophies have you won?

I would be surprised if he makes it to the end of the day.

Kind of hoping he makes to to the game at Anfield where we can sing his name whilst thumping Chelsea, I would love to sit beside the away fans and belt out some of his songs.

LOL DM not only talks pure rubbish when it comes to Arsenal but he does it when talking about other teams and managers:p.

I kinda feel sorry for Benitez but he was an absolute fool to take the Chelsea job in all honesty and even i could see that it wasnt going to be a happy fairytale ending for him.

Im surprised that he claims he didnt know it was an interim job??...surely with all teh speculation going on when he was appointed, he must have known that it was an interim job and that he wouldnt be at Chelsea for the next season.

I think his problem is more that everyone knows he is the interim manager and as I said before certain senior players looked as if they couldn't care less even when playing for the lord and saviour RDM (best manager to ever walk the earth™), why would they motivate themselves for a manager that definately isn't going to to be there next season (could be argued all managers are interim when going to chelsea, but thats by the by).

I can't see them getting a top class manager for next season, who would go there? Manchini maybe as he'll be out of a job come the summer :p

I'm half expecting Abramovich to just take up the hotseat himself thinking that he can do a better job, I can't see any decent managers wanting to go there unless they want a quick payoff. Abramovich won't be happy unless Chelsea are dominating every competition.

I have no idea who drunkenmaster is, but the whole 'lol dm' responses that come afterwards are getting so boring now. Regardless of whether or not you think he's right at least he writes out a decent coherent response (albeit often a long one). I agree with him on some of it, mainly Rafa moaning when things go wrong.

I think the title interim would have an effect on the players though, especially with the rumours going around about the dressing room. It wouldn't surprise me if some players at Chelsea just stop trying when things aren't going their way, or they don't like the manager, and just wait for the inevitable change.

What has this got to do with anything?.

Because the way DM talks about football, its like he can do a better job...its pretty much the same when he talks about Arsenal/Wenger and what is going wrong with the team as a whole.

I feel sorry for Benitez but he would have been better off waiting a few more months before coming out with this, or just stepping down immediately and then talking to the media about it. This is only going to make things worse I imagine, the fans have been horrific to him ever since he was given the position but then if the club hadn't just randomly sacked RDM without having a suitable long term replacement in mind then they wouldn't be in this situation.

lolChelsea.
