Benitez sacked!

Yeah .. clearly! Because everyones going to jump at the chance to come to liverpool with no transfer budget and only allowed to invest ~20% of cash generated from sales on a short term ~(1 year) contract with the club up for sale and in-fighting at boardroom level.
Clearly.

Feel sorry for Liverpool...tbh the blame lies squarely at the Yank owners...they have almost systematically destroyed Liverpool with the amount of debt thats accumilated...i heard rumours of £5mill being available for transfers??...which wouldnt get FA really.

Feel gutted for Rafa...he had one bad season and all the crap was thrown at him...i mean geez im glad Arsenal dont have that policy of sacking managers because they have one rubbish season or havent won anything of note...otherwise Wenger would have been gone a long time ago:p

£6m to leave? And Liverpool's transfer budget this summer has risen from £5m to £15m according to some.

That's because while all football fans can be finicky, red scousers by and large are mental in comparison. Trust me on that. :p

He also failed to get into the Champion's League, I think that was it then. The club lost a lot of money at that point.

Pretty bad for Liverpool really, you wonder what will happen next. It's not particularly nice to see, hopefully things will turn around and they won't lose any of their stars this summer. I'm not sure of Liverpool's attraction/financial muscle but getting somebody like Hiddink it would be good

Enough, but he'll be the top scorer this season, just you watch.

;)
Been thrown in the reserves at last has he? :p

He seems to be regarded as some sort of managerial god yet he's flopped at more clubs than he's succeeded.

Actually quite concerning :o

Sort of thing you wouldn't have seen coming at the back end of the season before last.

Pains me to say it, but liverpool were playing the best team football in europe at the time, they were runing rings around anybody they played.

Last season they realy were poor at times though, injuries don't help, but absolutely crazy not to have a 2nd topline striker on the books.. poor because they lacked the teeth up front.. should have bagged somebody in january, van nistelrooy... he would have claimed liverpool 4th in the table.

Personaly, the guy that managed real last year, with the pot of crap that comes with managing madrid, i wouldn't say pellegrini has ever done much wrong.

For my money he had villareal playing some of the best football in europe a couple of seasons ago, had them constantly near the top of the spanish table on a shoestring.

Liverpool could do far worse than to look to him, plus the bonus the decent south americans and spanish guys have could be more inclined to stick with.

I'm sad to see him go and I think it might prove to be a mistake. However the 'fact' is he done extremely badly last season and more importantly showed few signs of knowing how to lift the team out of it. He may have been a man massively undermined, but some of the "performances" were devoid of any signs of drive and determination. Something was badly wrong.

Talk of needing 5 extra top players this summer didn’t help matters either. He knows it's completely unrealistic. What we need is some one who can keep what we have together and get the most out of it.

I also feel he made a massive mistake with the Alonso/Barry incident a couple of seasons ago.

That's not such a bad idea until the club can be sold.

That has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've read. To suggest Dalglish started the downturn and in some way is responsible for where the club currently is now 20 years on.

I said he oversaw the start of the downturn, the stats don't show how poor we were becoming, the lack of competition at the time disguises what was becoming obvious

I have no problem with this as long as it doesn't become permanant

Even if it was offered to him, I don't think he'd want it. It's simply a case of having somebody with the clubs interests at heart involved until the club is sold. Dalglish is the natural choice and both Torres and particularly Gerrard think very highly of him.

Even Mourinho has aged pretty obviously since his time at Porto! I think the only manager who seems to have avoided stress affecting his appearance and let the alcohol do it instead is Fergie...
