Benjisayers - Training Log.

BB Bench 5*5 @ 40kg
DB Bench 5*10 @ 12kg
DB Incline 5*10 @ 12kg
Chest Fly Machine 3*13 @50kg
Chest Press Machine 1*10 @ 50kg 2*10 @ 45kg
Cable Tri Pushdown 3*10 @ 45
Tri Super Set (rope and overhead) 3*10 @ 35/25kg respectively.

I feel weird doing DB bench as I'm not sure where my arms should be. I've watched a few videos on YT from various channels but even when I think I'm doing what they are I just feel weird like I'm not doing it right. If anyone wants to point me in the direction of some videos they think could be useful it would be appreciated.

My BB bench could be more but I was off ill last week so didn't want to overstretch it so went with what I knew I could do and used it to keep an eye on form. Looking forward to Wed as now that I'm doing them I really find Deadlifts quite a fun/exciting exercise to do. I guess I am still lifting 'phaggot' weight at the minute though so that's maybe why I enjoy it so much.

Tbh you'll just need some time getting used to the movement.

For example, if I try to do incline BB press it all goes horribly wrong because I've never done it and I keep wanting to press at right angles to my body.

Have your arms at around 45 degrees to your torso and have the DBs in the same line.

Bro's of my bro - It was Back day today!

DL 1*5 @ 65kg
DL 5*5 @ 85kg
Lat Pulldown 3*10 @ 50kg
Seated Row 3*10 @ 50kg
TBar Row 3*8 @ 25kg
BB Bi Curls 3*10 @ 20kg
DB Bi Curls 3*10 @ 9kg's

After talking with Wolls earlier I'm pretty sure I'm at the end of my upping my DL's by 5kg each week now. The first 2 sets I bosses, while the 3rd set I was having to take a rest between reps as I didn't think I could do it. Sets 4/5 I was hitting the first 3 reps and had a rest before doing reps 4 & 5. On the last few reps I was struggling with the bar on the right but I think this is because it's only the 2nd time i've used mixed grip so still finding my feet with it. Probably do 85kg again next week and hopefully from there will just be upping it 2.5kg each week.

Doofus (was a good autocorrect, thought I'd leave it), there's nothing wrong with mixed, most people use it. And also just because you can DOH 85kg after 3 years of lifting, doesn't mean Bonji can after 6 weeks :p

I experimented briefly with mixed. I found it easier stop the underhand shoulder being pulled forward. I've always DOH'd though, even for PB's.

Each to our own :)

All kindz of abbreviation gainz in here. Department of Health? lol

The reason I gave it a try is that a lot of people seemed to mention using it, so thought I'd see if it made things any easier for me or not. Might give it another bash next week, will see what takes my fancy.

Monkee, do be quiet for once.

Benji, fair enough, just try and use doh for most if you can as it will help with grip. Not sure what Wills problem is lately, ignore the phaggot.

Can confirm phaggot. I can tell from some of the hairstyles and from seeing quite a few phaggots in my time.

Interdasting.

Bro, do you chalk?

Also, a lot of grip strength is derived from technique. Grip the bar poorly and it makes it much harder.

Liquid chalk is mireful as hell.

And there's no reason for me to be quiet, as there is no reason at all to slate mixed grip. If anything it's a position that actually helps people maintain more spin neutrality, and takes the onus of grip away from the lift to a significant degree without resorting to straps, so you're still training grip.

You don't have to use mixed grip for every set, just when your grip starts to fail.

Cheers brahs.

Icecold or anyone for that matter, have you got any good links that look at how to grip the bar properly as I'll take a look at it over the weekend and I'll even practice with a mop or something.

I'd be surprised if there's much material on that. It should just come naturally, but be aware of your wrist being in a comfortable and non-torqued position, fingers wrapped around the bar so you're not holding with your finger tips and that your hands are shoulder-width apart; your arms should be a straight vertical line down from a front view.
