Benq FP241W (Now available from OcUK!!!!!)

it will probably be a few weeks behind the FP241W, so i'd expect it to be available early November as best guess right now. Some advanced preview info about it and BFI technology available here :)

Is this 1:1 odd pixel scaling only changed from an external device plugged into it through HDMI, does it display in 16:10? even when its plugged in from DVI directly from a PC. Or does it display correctly when connected through DVI. Je suis tres confusent. Somebody PM me or just post back to this, i need some help and advice.

output from a PC will be 100%. Output from other devices such as consoles/dvd players etc will be stretched.

There're a few owners reporting back on an American forum.

The general consensus is the picture quality is amazing. However, over a component cable the monitor will stretch the image to fill the screen. Although this hasn't detered the users from being impressed by the quality:

Just hooked up the monitor to an XBOX 360 (Component) at 1080i.... Good lord this thing is SHARP! I haven't played around with the settings on the XBOX before (it's a unit at my work place) so initially it was at 480p and I was kind of disappointed, but having changed to the correct settings...this thing is mind blowing.
[sic]
Now that the picture is displayed correctly, the image quality at 1080i is jaw-dropping. Make no mistake about it. No ghosting, artifacts, refresh rate problems or anything. If someone else has a 1080i available connection, you'll know what I'm talking about.

There should be some news on HDMI results soon.

The FP241W is looking very promising as a PC monitor, although it's use as a multi-input display is questionable.

Well folks, now its been confirmed there is NO 1:1 pixel mapping

What are you all going to do ? I was going to get this monitor, BUT i dont want stretched images, is the new version of it likely to fix this ?

If not does anyone know of a new monitor on the horizon soon that has all the features of the BenQ but with 1:1 ?

I'm now in the same boat, a little depressing :(

do you think GFX card manufacturers could code their drivers to do something similar to 1:1 mapping?

They do anyway, from the PC no 1:1 pixel mapping isnt a problem what so ever, HOWEVER the problems are running from a non pc input, which is where im stuck, dude if your just running a PC on it buy it ! lol

Oooooo Thanks, Didn't know that! Spot the Newbie :)

*Stares at Credit Card* Gulp!

im thinking i should find an old 2405 and just use that, at least its component/composite inputs work, its 1:1 works... every monitor out atm has a flaw of some kind. Im very :(

It's too stupid not to be fixed, surely. Hopefully BenQ will sort it out and release a revised version.

I've ordered mine as my dell lcd tv is 16x10 and I dont really notice it on my 360 at 720p or on my dvd player @ 1080i which upscales the image anyway.

1.1pixel mapping should be an easy fix for benq to do for later revisions of this monitor but I just couldn't wait any longer for a 24" screen to use mainly for pc with a little console gaming on the side.

For me the pluses outweigh the negative tbh and if they do revise it I am sure it will be something they can do via software or if not via a direct RMA like Dell do with the various revisions of the 2407 ( I think I am trying to convince myself :) )

Sorry, just want to confirm, If I have an avi file in 16x9 format and playing it off my PC then it would display in 16x9 right with borders? Same for a 4:3 avi, borders on the side? That's what I want, I'm not too concerned with the other ouputs yet but if it doesn't stretch stuff coming from a PC then I defo want to buy this monitor.

That's fine. The media player should take care of adding the appropriate borders before the image gets sent to the monitor.

grrrr really want this monitor :( Ill only use it for my pc and 360 though............there wouldnt b -that- much distortion on a 360.........*slaps self*, is it possible you could 'flash' a monitors firmware to a newer one ? or is that imposs?

Do you get charged by OCUK immediately for pre-ordering one of these, or when it's dispatched?

Immediately apparently, I asked that question earlier on in the thread. A bit ghey if you ask me :(

Sure is. I thought it was not quite right under the distance selling regs, if not it is one other reason i never pre-order kit from the cash cow that is OCuk.
having said that they seem to be cheaper on quite a few items, including the monitor i want to buy.

This whole thing with the new 24" monitors not doing what the specs say is getting ridiculous!

They simply have to fix this monitor. The guy on Hardforum tested his computer through DVI>HDMI converter and still got stretching - worse still, feeding 1920x1200 stretches to larger than the screen can hold! How silly is that? especially as Gfx cards are about to become available with HDMI outputs...
