Benq FP241W (Now available from OcUK!!!!!)

Do we have a date yet for when this monitor will be available to buy from a UK e-tailer?

I noticed this monitor is on the benq.com site but not on the benq.co.uk site (yet).

Like some others on here, am just waiting for a high-spec 24" monitor that doesn't have any noticeable problems.

Ive given up waiting. After reading the Benq is gonna be a S-PVA and negative reports on there customer service, Decided to risk a 2407 £620 delivered revision A02

Just hope im not dissapointed with it.

Thanks for the update Humate, it was getting very quiet there for a while. Lets just hope that this is the case as all this waiting is starting to get really frustrating. Hopefully it will be worth it in the long run.

Does anyone have any idea how much (roughly) this Benq screen is going to cost? As i am willing to spend a decent amount of money for a new 24" screen that will last me for years but i'm not going to spend stupid money on it.

Im hoping its under £850, but price doesnt really matter for me because i will charge them to the business. Something tells me that im gonna wait all this time, and its gonna have banding or bad input lag.

I think £850 + P&P would be my limit. You'll make a decent saving putting it through the business (its alright for some ;) ).

I know what you mean, its a cert that it'll not be 100% due to some problem and having waited all this time end up getting the Dell 2407

When it does arrive lets hope that its freely available and OcUK stock it.

Bump!

This monitor is now listed on the Benq UK website (it was only on the US website before). Hopefully this means it will hit retail soon.

Unless I have misread the UK site from Baddass's original link I believe the site may have been updated with the 8ms GTG, 1000:1 contrast but with 500cd/m2 Brightness

So it is the Dell panel but with HDMI ( the spec sheet on the UK site is denying addition of componant input which is disappointing)

I've seen a US site taking preorders for $855 (£462 - although it will of course cost more over here). Slightly worrying though is the fact that they've got an ETA of 15th September :(. Whatever happens, my guess is it will probably be around the same price as the DELL 2407, or maybe even slightly undercut it, as that'll be its main competition.

As like many others, i've been waiting for this monitor to be released for what feels like ages now - if this ETA is accurate for the UK also, i'll be hugely disappointed as rumours had it as a mid August release.

Well, the first date I ever heard for it was June :p . I suppose component and monitor manufacturers can be pretty flexible, as its not like that many people will be bothered to get it on launch day. Hell, if I'd been interested in the 2407FPW I'd have lost all my hair due to having torn it out of frustration. Personally, I'm not too bothered as I probably wouldn't be able to afford it until Dec/Jan anyway :(

I wanna buy a new 24" monitor by mid august, so by the looks of it, this won't be it.

I think i'm gonna try my luck with the Samsung 244T. Reviews are all good, and the reports about input lag are mixed, so I guess I could just hope for the best!

Are there any other problems reported with this screen?

I wouldve liked to wait and see the Benq and how it performed againstthis and the Dell, but just don't wanna wait for a deadline that might get pushed back repeatedly.

BenQ France - Press Release July 19, 2006

BenQ enriches its range with two new products: the FP241W and the FP241WZ.

These are first LCD monitors equipped with an HDMI interface and Full HD 1080p compatibility offering a contrast of 1,050:1 (max.).

The FP241WZ is the first LCD monitor to integrate AMA Z technology. This new AMA Z technology, combination between AMA (Advanced Motion Accelerator or accelerator of liquid crystal rotation) and BFI (Black Frame Insertion, insertion of black images). It accelerates the number of revolutions of the liquid crystals by increasing the electric tension applied to the last. This innovation makes it possible to reduce considerably the response time in GTG (Grey-to-Grey) and also improves the process of image reproduction. Via the insertion of a black field between 2 images, AMA Z technology makes it possible to remove the effects of remanence to the screen due to the phenomenon of “visual continuation” (suppression of the phantom image created by the human eye between 2 successive images).

This innovating technology marks the beginning of a new era for LCD monitors: good-bye phantom images, welcome in the era of the high performance images whatever the video source used.

The FP241W will be available from September at a recommended price of 999 € including all taxes. (Around £650)

The FP241WZ will be available from mid-September/October at a recommended price of 1299 € including all taxes. (Around £850)

Been waiting a few months for this monitor to show up like several other users as I couldn't comit myself to the Dell or Samsung. I just hope it is as good as its sounds on paper, never had any experience with BenQ myself.

Looks like its gonna be about another two months till we will see FP241WZ on sale. Have seen a few references to it being made available for reviewing in mid-August, so we should at least know how good it is before release.

It does however work out pretty good for me though as I won't be ready for it till september anyway. :)

the bottom picture... it looks worse with it on.

I have concerns over the viewing angle:

Also... why the hell did they even use that picture to display this "amazing" technology in the bottom picture... firstly... its horrible... and secondly... its not the right size. If i was in charge of marketing, such atrocities wouldnt be allowed. :)
