Benq FP241W (Now available from OcUK!!!!!)

Heh, in regards to the first set of shots - not seen ghosting that bad on an LCD in a very long time. Think they have exaggerated the ghosting somewhat "for marketing purposes" :D

Agreed that it looks worse on the 2nd pic too. Also, the "off" pic on that 2nd shot has a completely different set of gradients being displayed. Dunno if it's caused by the angle or maybe they just don't have the 2 monitors calibrated the same.

I'm assuming the entire pic is scrolling in both examples, which is why they appear to be the wrong size - they are just wrapping around.

I sent BenQ an email around a week ago and got a reply today saying the monitor will be released on the 1st August. Yet that press release says September

Press release is for France though. It could very well be 1st August over here. However when it actually hits the shops is a completely different matter.

Just got a reply to an email i sent last week:

E-mail sent to Benq:

I have been eargerly awaiting the release of the new 24" FP241W.

Have you any information about when the BenQ FP241W 24" widescreen monitor will be available to purchase within the UK and at what cost.

It is rumoured to be the 15th August 2006, is this correct?

Many thanks

E-mail reply from Benq:

Thank you for your email.

Both the FP241WZ and FP241W has their official Press Launch last Friday.

The FP241W will launch to retail in the UK approximately mid August, initial supply will be readily available through the large e-tail sites, such as xxxxx

Approximate price (SRP inc VAT)
FP241W (without BFI) @ £569.99
FP241WZ (with BFI) @ £609.99

BFI is our anti-hold technology which gives a CRT like display.

I've attached a spec sheet for more information.

Regards
BenQ UK

If those prices are accurate, these screens will be hugely competitive

I guess the price difference between the two models isn't as extreme as first thought.

It says the FP241W will be available mid August but no mention on the release of the FP241WZ (with BFI), which i'm sure everyone would prefer. A September release of this version may be more likely, as has been suggested.

Wow @ price - I was expecting £850.

Cheers for the fact-finding mission Kendo :D

at £609 or even less if the fancy BFI turns out to suck i'm sold.. the price would allow me to forgive the minor defects that have stopped me from spending the extra for the Dell

yeh price is very good... at that price i might try my luck on the business and get 3 with matrox triple head.

good point about the scrolling, i hadnt thought of that.

Only a week then if it truly is 1st of august.

*prepares himself for semptember 1st and beyond*

Wow, £609.99 for the Z model is great news :) . Although I had anticipated BenQ trying to undercut Dell on prices :p Will have to see how BFI turns out - if its just a gimmick then no bother going for it, but if even just marginally improves image quality, then for an extra £40 its probably worth it.

Another article that puts it around the £680 mark:

Oh and a nice pic I found:
