Benq FP241W (Now available from OcUK!!!!!)

Hi there

Spoke to BenQ. They know exactly who we are and are keen to support us with 500 units. They have one demo unit in the UK and are hopefully bringing it up next week for us. Stock will be 1st week of October if all goes well and if we pull of this 500 unit deal we should be able to sell at good price.

There is two models but will find out more soon. :)

I will have the cash waiting :)

I hope it's better than a 2407 I just turned one down for under £500 for this I needed hdmi for a upscaling dvd player so this screen seemed the logical choice

Let's hope they don't have a high failure rate. BenQ's warranty procedure is shockingly poor and now we know why - as Gibbo said, their operation in the UK is not very focused.

Good luck on your swap outs ;)

Personally, I would still go with the 2407 right now, or wait until at least after Xmas to see if they have improved their warranty service - undoubtedly there will be some people on here by then who will have experienced the service and will be able to tell us.

Hi there

All sorted now. The monitor should be available for pre-order in the next 24 hours. :)
BenQ are just working on a special support price for me and are organising exclusive launch. Informed them they need to be cheaper than DELL, so fingers crossed. :)

The girl I spoke too was very knowledgable and seemed very keen to support us which is very good. As its the staff that make a company so hopefully she will increase BenQ's profile within OcUK and provide our customers great support when they need it too. :)
She is visiting next week with a sample of the FP241W for us to play with.

Regarding the FP241WZ this version is not been released until sometime in 2007, so we can forget about that one for now.

Great news Gibbo. Will you be able to find out about the scaling options of the screen when she visits please (i.e. are resolutions below 1920x1200 stretched or are there borders)? I'll be putting in a pre-order later if the price is good.

Hi there

Now on the site!!
BenQ are been very strict regarding the sell price and have told us to stick to the RRP. I have however gone a little under it as they are supporting our price so feel its only fair we give the customer some discount too. :)

So in essence its cheaper than the DELL (except for when we put the DELL on special) it has more features like HDMI/HDCP. Not sure which one I'd choose as the DELL is an awsome screen so will be interesting to see how this compares next week. :)

Will you be so kind as to tell us whether it supports 1:1 Pixel Mapping when you get the opportunity to find out Gibbo :) Cheers.

EDIT: Also noticed on the product brief that it says "Full HD Support (1080i)". Shouldn't it be 1080p? ;) (in the bullet-point bit)

I've e-mailed BenQ about the pixel mapping options so I'll post the reply here.

edit: just looked at the manual for the older FP231W model and that has display mode options: Full, 1:1 or Aspect.

so can someone tell me why this monitor is so awesomely much better that any other 24" screen ? is it just because it offically supports HDTV and other bits or wha ? tell me, im in the market for a 24" panel

I don't think it is ever going to be miles better than other 24" screens. It does appear to address some of the problems with the Dell 2407 though such as better support for HDCP content, and the addition of a HDMI connector is nice for future-proofing.
