BenQ XL2730Z Freesync Owners Thread

well what a ballache this will be. Firstly, how many of us are still likely to have the original packaging with all the packing stuff. And secondly, how much is it going to cost to send this thing back? Any idea if BenQ will refund for returning?

Edit: Just spoke to BenQ now, we have to pay for the shipping back to BenQ, they will carry out the update and send the unit back free of charge. Apparently a very quick turn around, if any damage gets done to the monitor, they will ship out a brand new screen. So, it's off to the service and warranty section I go to fill out the form and get the RMA number.

pffffffftttt

I've just RMA'd my XL2730Z with BenQ for a firmware update. A company called Repairtech called me the day following the RMA number being issued by Benq (which itself took a day). They arranged collection via DPD the following day, who collected the monitor and stand (in original box) from my home - zero cost so far

Well i too have now heard back from BenQ regarding my RMA and they have said the following==== Please make sure that the device is packaged and ready to be picked-up. Our logistics partner DPD will be contacting you either by email or SMS during normal business hours

So im now just awaiting to be contacted to arrange collection and there has been no mention about shipping costs to me , in the meantime i'm now using my old 32 inch LG LCD. TV screen @ 60hz 1920x1080 and i can believe the difference now i had got use to the 144hz @ 2560x1440 , hope it doesn't take to long to get it back.

This is exactly the same as me, DPD collected it today to go to RepairTech, zero cost too. Hope it doesn't take long.

Anyone had them back yet? Have read some really negative reports about RepairTech and the RMA process. Will wait to get the OK from a few of you before I get mine sent off.

That's worrying! Care to share exactly what you've heard, please? (I've seen they had a fire)..

Jason, Skel & Tap ... Likewise, I've now got my RMA and awaiting contact (although from UPS) regarding collection. I've had it confirmed I won't pay for shipping but certainly won't be getting a new replacement like our American friend. Now that would have been good service!

Well, I know it's annoying that you have to the monitor back, but at least you don't have to pay shipping.

Hope you get your monitors back quickly!!

EDIT: Good news, a guy on Hardforum just got his monitor back. Freesync is working 100% on his monitor and it was a pretty quick turn around.

Looks like some good news for those that already have purchased the XL2730Z I hope it works out for you all and that you will not be charged any carriage fees. I personally think that it is wrong to charge the customer in this case as the units were sent out 'faulty' in the first instance.

However, it does look like BenQ seem to be covering the carriage cost and that will only do their reputation the world of good.

I have been waiting on the issues with this monitor and the new Asus ROG Dominator before I make my final decision. It looks like we will know quite soon how this is going to pan out. I am leaning towards the XL2730Z at the moment as the IPS glow issues do worry me with the Asus (I tend to prefer to play in the dark and the glow would put me off). There is also the issue with the 35Hz - 90Hz Freesync window as I would rather a 40Hz - 144Hz window like on the BenQ (Not sure why BenQ cant come down to 35Hz or more ideally 30Hz as I am not an expert on dynamic refresh rates).

Anyway what with the imminent review of the Asus Rog Dominator and the firmware update and re-stock of the BenQ XL2730Z then it looks like the wait is almost over for me. Descision time coming up soon, thankfully. Then its just the wait for the reviews and release of the 390X. Hopefully that will not be as eventful as the launch of Freesync. :-)

P.S. Will Overclockers UK indicate on the site when the XL2730Z with revised FW is in stock?

I had a post guy come pick up my screen today in Australia the bloke hauled the monitor into the back of the van pretty rough and I heard it land hard... I wrapped it in a blanket I no longer want to keep within the original box ... its in quite snugly so I hope shes ok!!

BenQ sent me a return post-thing via road to the next state, I'll post here how I go when I get it back... :|

Well i've just had to e-mail [email protected] because in the last two days no one has contacted me yet to arrange collection , they have said it would be DPD in the email but i'm still waiting.

I know your pain. Took whole day of work because they could not give me a better time to collect than between 8 a.m and 5 p.m. They didn't turn up till nearly half 7 in the evening.

I've had the RMA details for 2 days, but still no shipping label. Can anyone tell me did that take longer, and who sent the label please, BenQ or DPD?

[edit] Sorry jumped straight into post, then saw new comments above. I'm actually moving house in a few weeks, REALLY don't want any delays!

I am from the States and my RMA was issued the same day of the request for repair along with a free 2-day FedEx shipping label and the turn around was 3 business days after they received my shipment. Very impressed with their support service. I now have a perfectly working monitor. If you have sensitive eyes to motion blur you will immediately notice the difference in a blink of a second both on desktop use/3d applications. The wait for this firmware really did pay off (at least for me). I almost sent this one back to newegg but thankfully I found this site. I've been following this thread for a month now and noticed that a lot of you are happy with just Blur Reduction or even FS as you claim it is plenty fast still but I completely disagree. The difference was huge for me. In BF4 with FS enabled I was easily affected by the motion blur during fast movements compared to just "blur reduction" mode with FS off. I never looked back until now since BenQ fixed it for me and now get to enjoy all the benefits this monitor comes with. This monitor is now just flawless. Everything looks better with FS enabled as opposed to only blur reduction.

Yep i've had a response back from my email saying DPD are coming for it tomorrow at sometime and they have said that i will receive a email with a one hour time slot.

Do DPD print out a label when collecting from you for the address its going too, as i don't have the address its going to in any of my correspondence

Just done a quick google and it looks like they only have the one repair centre for the UK ,,
this is the address that comes up for the UK

RepairTech Limited
Unit 4b
Westfield Road
Southam, Warwickshire CV47 0JH

so i will just write one out just in case ,, but i'm more than sure that when DPD pickup they print one out :)

Get the latest AMD drivers 15.5 beta, then only use a display port cable, freesync will be detected. Freesync is not compatible with blur reduction and will be disabled if you enable blur reduction. See the review by Baddass on TFT central for more info. Also your gfx card needs to be freesync capable.

Do u think someone will do a updated review with the new firmware installed ?

I cant myself just at this minute as i'm on Nvidia cards atm , im awaiting for the release of there Radeon Fury (Fiji) HBM card until i can play with freesync.
