yeah tell me about it. Was speaking to Josh in Steam chat about exactly this. Mind you, gives me a week of sitting on the sofa playing Lego Jurassic World with the wife on the TV, I'll order a FuryX on 24th and hopefully have my screen back for when it arrives, unleashing proper freesync and a FuryX if I'm lucky enough to get in on the order :)

Hi guys, have any of you with this monitor been previous owners of a 24" BenQ XL2420Z ? I only ask as I had that monitor before and performance wise it was perfect but the colours were completely intolerable (so bad it may of well been black and white).

No amount of osd tweaks, calibration, ICC profiles etc could compensate for how poor it looked - I had to send it back.

I have been looking into the Asus MG279Q IPS 144hz, Freesync monitor but the 90hz limitation (with increased input lag), poor quality control and lack of any blur reduction features is giving me cold feet.

I am an IPS fan boy and the thought of blowing £500 on a TN panel makes me nervous!

Many thanks in advance for any views / opinions :)

I've not owned a previous BenQ, all I can say for a TN the colours are very good indeed. I came from a really old LED LG screen to this and was blown away by how nice the colours look. There are some issues with viewing angles, but I only sit right in front of it when im gaming. It's an incredible screen.

Its really good to get it back , the colors are amazing and everything is really clear and crisp,,,,,i mean its probably placebo but hey .....

Good luck all with your updates and i hope it all goes smoothly for you as it has for me

Well i would love to test the freesync for you Tony but i can't atm ,as im with the green team (780sli)
Im waiting for the release off the fury X card to swap over to the red team so thats a bit of a bummer me
but otherwise everything is spot on with the monitor , it has even remembered my profile setting for the 1,2,3, buttons for the s-switch , this is why i then checked the service menu to make sure that it had been updated.

Im Looking forwards to someone willing to do a updated review now with the new firmware and freesync .

Just another quick update ,,
but could someone else please tell if if they think that text on web pages look clearer and sharper than before the update , especially white on black ,,, because to me its does ,, or its because ive been using my old IPS 1080X1920 screen for a few days. but i'm sure i didn't notice this kind of clarity when i first got it.

thanks

bake73 I chucked mine in a samsung box with the stand attached and everything, they knew it was from me and what it was, so it was OK I guess, I would try to use the BenQ box though!

I have the box but i binned the polystyrene back so i could put my old monitor in. Suppose i could stuff something in the back to stop it moving.
I think this is the first time ive not saved all the bits :(

Cheers.

As you see on my previous post, everything is crisper and had better colours than before, not only in game but windows and browsers.

Is not you only :)

I have the XL2410T if that helps.
Cannot make a comparison, because XL2730Z is a different class on it's own.

Colours, blacks, picture quality, miles better.

Tbh if you have given me money back and asked me to choose between IPS, VA or TN, I will get the XL2730Z again.
