BenQ XL2730Z Freesync Owners Thread

Language is not my issue, hell they can send it even in Greek :P

FYI I was told to pack only the monitor nothing else, and I will receive a monitor only. (no cabling etc).

The monitor was in English, just the packaging also featured French.

On the e-mail I had from BenQ it said not to include the cables unless otherwise specified. On the e-mail I had from RepairTech it said to include everything (cables, stand, manuals, etc.).
Since the BenQ e-mail basically said "unless otherwise specified" and RepairTech did specify I felt I had to include them as RepairTech said that otherwise the monitor would be repaired and I would be charged.

Maybe they've changed it now after the issue with mine? Have you had the e-mail from RepairTech?

Not yet, hadn't from RepairTech any info.

Quick update. Repairtech contacted me that new monitor will be delivered tomorrow.
However because I have an all day meeting, rescheduled with DPD for Wednesday :D

Thats just a week after BenQ started handling the support case.

Idk why some of you were waiting for months, however twice I had to RMA the monitor (first time to change firmware due to AMA bug), and BenQ/Repairtech were straight on to almost a week return from initial call.

Replacement monitor is back and looks good and brand new. Even if was not in it's original box.

And I say brand new because it doesn't have a single spec of dust.

Time to configure it :)

And I'm still waiting...

I've contacted them and they tell me it was dispatched shortly after they requested it before Christmas.

They then asked me if I was sure it hadn't arrived. Cuz I often contact support desks just for the lolz, you know what it's like, bit of a laugh when you're bored ain't it?

Worst RMA experience of my life.

Look, you sure DPD contacted you? Do you have the DPD tracker ID?
I received one straight away in my SMS the moment I got the email from Repairtech.

Having a small nightmare with mine.

Get ready for the spec....

Pro: Intel i5-4440k @3.1GHz
Ram: 8gb 1600mhz. (Corsair value select...)
Mobo: MSI PC Mate H97
OS: Windows 10 Pro x64
GPU: Asus Radeon R9 390. core clock 1000MHz, mem clock 1500MHz, 8gb ddr5.
Monitor: BenQ XL2730z.

Not a clue myself where to go with this now so any input is appreciated. I've done a fresh install of windows, updated all the drivers. And still suffering from a clearly noticeable screen tear in more than one game. I may have exaggerated by saying every game, because I've only tried two. Rocket League and Battlefront. But both are screen tearing terribly even with freesync on.

I'm using the display port cable that comes with the monitor, and all the other features seem to be working fine. When I enter the display settings on the monitor it states it's current res is 2560x1440 @144, with freesync on. When I enter the radeon crimson settings it also states that freesync is on. Hovering the mouse pops up a bubble stating "refresh rate reported...40-80hz". This has went up from 40-60. Which happened after I increased the refresh rate in the custom resolution settings. However it has stayed at 40-80hz, despite myself resetting the settings to factory default. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Anyways during game whether freesync be on, or freesync be off. Very noticeable screen tearing. I was using the fps counter steam supplies when playing rocket. It was reaching 70fps max, which shouldn't really be fast enough to screen tear the display at all.

Like I says, don't know where to go from here tried so much lost for answers now so anything helps, cheers.

If you updated your display driver through the windows update, then you will need to remove it and install the driver from the amd website. If that works out then you should disable auto driver installs so that it doesn't happen in the future.

For Freesync to work, you need to play in exclusive FULLSCREEN mode.
Not window or border-less window.

After that make sure on windows 10 to disable the installation of device drivers. Google search for it, MS has the tendency to screw that up with W10.

Make sure you use Crimson 16.1. Uninstall previous drivers via control pane, use DDU to wipe them out. Then RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR (right click) the Crimson 16.1

Let us now how it went. However your CPU is not that powerful one, especially at 3.1Ghz.

Originally I had tried running it in the fullscreen mode. I've tried using the older catalyst version that windows supplied. When that didn't work I downloaded crimson 16.1 and tried that. But I've followed everything to the letter that you've suggested this time round Panos and.....still no good :(

Do you think it's possible that my processor is bottlenecking the system and causing screen-tear though? One thing I can say is that I was running through a 5 year old television before this and I never noticed any tear... Just massive lag.

Follow the link for a game of spot the screen tear.

Which DP cable you use?
I have the same issue since Friday. When playing video (netflix) or gaming there is a tearing line 1/3 top of the monitor

There is not such issue with hdmi connected though. (But no freesync)
However until i get a new dp cable tonight cannot blame anything. (Nano has full dp)

Especially since the monitor is refurb with new parts just a week old and initially didnt had such issue
