Bent CPU Pins?

OH MY GOD!! SUCCESS!!!!!

WAHEY!!!

Glad to hear that your persistence paid off - you deserved a break.

"I might see if I can't do anything more against this base-tard, don't want him doing it again, plus he has really been an annoyance!! Depends on how bored I get after uni finishes :P

I would be tempted to forget about it and chalk it up to experience - it's given you enough stress. Be pleased with the fact that you managed to get a better result than most when dealing with ebay.

It makes a change to see some dodgy t**t get what he deserves for once.

Glad your persistence paid off in the end mate :)

Really pleased this has been resolved in your favour, that will teach the little *******.

Agree with this. Concentrate on your exams.

Nice one.

Will you be sending him the motherboard back now as he'll have paid for it ;)

I don't think so, they haven't actually said anything about that. He can't use it anyway, it's completely buggered, he saw to that!

Yeah, maybe a good idea. I wouldn't have done anything until uni was finished anyway. I just kind of want to get him back some more. I probably won't do anything.

If this guy is just a 16 year old kid, he, or his mate, has just screwed himself out of near £100 :P A bit harsh when you are that age XD Serves him right!

I just shouted a silent "YES !!!!!".

So pleased to hear you got a positive outcome.

I'd send the MB back to him, in the hope that it annoys him a little. It is his property, after all.

That is pure awesome. So glad to hear that worked out. This has been one of the best threads around here for a while. Really pleased for you. I am with Dervious, send the MB back to him :p

Thanks guys, can't express how pleased this has made me.

I suppose it would be a fun reminder to him to send it back, so he can see what he wasted his time and money doing :P
I don't want to waste another £10 on postage though, and eBay haven't said I need to return it.

What could I do with this board now? I might try and sell it for spare parts or something. Any chance I could replace the old socket? Perhaps buy a cheap faulty 1156 board and change the socket out? Probably wont be able to, but might be worth looking at maybe ...

The CPU socket component should be able to be replaced, after all the motherboard is still just a massively (and very complicated) circuit board with each part soldered onto it so I don't see why not. Whether you have the ability/patience to do that yourself or know somewhere that can do it for you is another matter though :)

Well done on getting a good result from eBay, there's hope for sellers on there yet.

Replacing the CPU socket is not a DIY job.

You would need a pretty expensive soldering station to carry out the task.

I suppose it might, just might be possible to do it with an ordinary soldering iron. No, I`ve changed my mind, it won't be possible.

Send it back to him. It should cost less than £10, if you send it by snail mail. You might want to enclose a few words within the parcel, thanking him for his business. That has got to be worth about £6 of your money, no ?

You won; you have the money for the board. Leave it at that I'd say!
eBay have sided with you, and right now, you have done nothing wrong.

You don't want to risk sending it back to him, and him complaining again to eBay, and then have them change the decision once again!

Yeah, it's likely that might happen, he might say something like "this replacement is broken too"
