Best FO3 Mods?

Hey,
"If you are using Windows Vista make sure you DO NOT play Fallout 3 from your Program Files folder, this has been known to cause strange problems (if UAC is on/incorrect permissions), install Fallout 3 somewhere else. "

Translation?

Does it simply mean to create a shortcut? Or launch off disk?

(This is from the ArchiveInvalidation Invalidation thing: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944 )

turn uac off :p

but it means install it elsewhere because uac will mess with things trying to fiddle with files in program files.

nvm found it forgot to tick itwhen installing few, wil lfiddle more

UFP Support? Yeah its included in the FWE download.

I don't understand why its not working if the merged patch created properly. If there was an issue it would most likely be found when it works through the load order. Your best bet is probably to just remove mods and add them in slowly (don't need to really bother with the merged patch everytime). Mine started fine once i realised that EVE and the Dynamic Weather mod were causing problems by trial and error.

and crash.

Just try vanilla and build up, will at least let you see whats causing problems. It could just be you didn't get a correct version of something (if you didn't get everything through Falloutnexus). I assume you have the FOSE Script Extender?

Whats best to get if you only want to improve the game without too many mods or any excessive changes and bugs?

RHIronSights
DC Interiors

Others will give you more - they're the only ones Ive been looking at
(cant figure out how to install RH IronSights though).

I dont want to install FWE because Im still whoring the achievements and having great fun whilst doing it :p

sigh going to have to reinstal ltoo kit right down to vanilla and it won;t start, worryingly same thing has happened to my oblivion (same message)

Will check them out, i do like the sound of more areas to explore, so far im getting these few...

DarNified UI
NMCs_Texture_Pack_for_FO3
GNR -- More Where That Came From

With the menu's is it possible to change the buttons from A and E to something else as i couldn't see an option under controls?

If you don't want major gameplay changes i'd keep it simple. Darn UI is a must, couldn't say about NMC, the main issue is if it causes conflicts with things like WMK and EVE so they'd be out. DC Interiors is a must as it adds a lot to DC (once you find the right areas). I'd recommend MMM as you can always just not use spawn increase mods and stick ot the altered enemies which would definatly spice up the game a little.

"on some computers setting bInvalidateOlderFiles to 1 in Fallout 3's ini will cause the game to crash on startup, at the moment it is unknown why this happens and there is no solution yet, unfortunatly you'll have to do without ANY modified original content since bInvalidateOlderFiles needs to be set to 1 to use any. "

Have you changed that one at all?

Seems you have to be careful with mods on these games, i remember oblivion had its own issues.

Thanks will check those out, dc interiors is tempting but i imagine it changes loads of stuff and may cause issues, however it will add a lot so im unsure what to do, do you think its worth it?

It doesn't change much i think, it really just adds stuff. All it will really change is the appearance of buildings it opens up (as far as i know). So unless there are problems when you enter those areas you shouldn't see anything else.

Maybe you should try a clean install. Remove everything and delete save files. Then install it again, load it up, then start adding in the mods again, testing it occasionally. Did you try it in stages at all and it crashes every time? If so it could just be something messed up as you were modding.

Im getting the odd pause with the high res texture pack in the wasteland, even with the optional performance addons, seems to be when they're loading or something, also with the gnr radio mod i get the odd pause before playing, hmm ah well its not bad enough to really bother me, just wish everything would work perfect, i will hold off on any major game changes for now i think.
