Best player you seen play in the Premier League?

I like all round players, someone who can score, defend and attack!

It took him 3 years to get going in the EPL, he is great but I dont think he is the grestest, he went missing a lot of games until "that season"

WTF about the first line?

Maradona must be constantly cursing his abitity to get up for a corner??

"it took him 3 years to get going"???

No it didnt.

He was developing as a player at a big club.

Are we talking on TV or actually at a games, watching on tv and watching live is a big difference, seen Henry a few times at Wigan and once at Highbury and he was amazing, best player at Wigan would be N'zogbia

Among his peers Paul Scholes is recognised as the greatest...

"Everyone of us should emulate him. We can all learn from Paul Scholes." [14]
Edgar Davids, former Holland midfielder

"My toughest opponent? Scholes of Manchester. He is the complete midfielder. Scholes is undoubtedly the greatest midfielder of his generation." [15]
Zinedine Zidane, World Cup winning France midfielder and three-time FIFA World Player of the Year

"Paul Scholes would have been one of my first choices for putting together a great team – that goes to show how highly I have always rated him. An all-round midfielder who possesses quality and character in abundance." [16]
Marcello Lippi, Italian manager who won five Serie A championships and the Champions League with Juventus, as well as the 2006 World Cup with Italy

"Without any doubt the best player in the Premiership has to be Scholes. He knows how to do everything, and he is one who directs the way his team plays. On top of that, he has indestructible mental strength and he is a genuine competitor." [17]
Thierry Henry, World Cup winning France forward

"There is no doubt for me that Paul Scholes is still in a class of his own. He’s almost untouchable in what he does. I never tire of watching him play. You rarely come across the complete footballer, but Scholes is as close to it as you can get. One of my regrets is that the opportunity to play alongside him never presented itself during my career." [21]
Zinedine Zidane, August 2010

"To me Paul is a role model. He is the best midfielder I’ve seen in the last 15 or 20 years." [29]
Xavi Hernández, Barcelona Midfielder

“At La Masia (Barcelona’s Academy) his name was mentioned a lot. He’s a teacher.” [34]
Lionel Messi

“Out of everyone at Manchester United, I would pick out Scholes – he is the best midfielder of his generation. I would have loved to have played alongside him.” [36]
Pep Guardiola

“I want to pass like him. Who taught him how to do that?” [37]
Ronaldinho

That is just some of what is said about him.

Totally agree hence my previous post - the thing is though it is never normally said by English people or players (including Scholes himself) - I think Xavi hit on the head recently when he was interviewed and said if Scholes was Spanish we would take more notice of him in the same way we ignored other really talented players like Le Tissier etc. Yer his tackling appears bad at times but wasn't it Roy Keane who said that's rubbish and Scholes knows exactly what he is doing. He is also the model professional. He would be a managers dream to be honest. If only he would have signed for Birmingham City :D

Ronaldo, Henry, Tony Adams, Fabregas, Pires, Cantona, Scholes, Neville, Gilberto, Lampard, Young, Hasselbaink was awesome, power, so much freaking power, and the crazy eyes.....

Makelele was VERY good, but for the fantastic defensive part of his game, the rest was lacking. Gilberto every every bit as good defensively, a threat offensively, a great passer, far far more complete player. Vieira and Gilberto were very different, Vieira wasn't a frequent scorer despite being a lot more offensive, but Vieira just had, "presence" that few players had. He held the ball very well, could tackle very well, was strong, was tough, intimidated players by being near them and was a great passer.
