Best Retro Handheld

They probably opened it fully with too much force. There are 2 bits of plastic poking out at the back that as a stop, without it, it would go back further...if the internal cables have enough slack. So I guess the force in pushing that stop too hard, too often causes stress to the hinge.
Could you take a photo of the hinge please when you have a few mins free. I was semi interested in the RPflip to run some Dreamcast, N64 and PSP on the go but i tend to toss my RG35XX in the top of my bag with a lock and other metal items. Im also quite heavy handed in general

So here is that stopper thing. You can also see the "seam" where the 2 pieces of plastic of the hinge is made out of. I suspect if you open it fast and hard, you put pressure on 50% of the hinge and can cause it to split? Also, the surface area of where it stop, on the lid, is small so i suspect it can cause a split of plastic in that corner if pushed too hard.

Thanks @Raymond Lin It looks reasonably solid though as in thickness wise.
Are those the L and R back buttons, they're so tiny!

They are label as M1 and M2...Not the L1 or L2 buttons actually, I think you can map them but in 99.999999% retro games they do nothing. You can probably map them as hot keys for the OS rather than games.

Any thoughts on the RG35XX versus the Miyoo Mini Plus?

I have the Miyoo Mini and the RG35xx. Don't have the plus but same chip inside.

I can't judge on the Miyoo Mini Plus's ergonomic side as i don't have that but I find the RG35XX size to be prefered over the original mini, but the L1/R1 buttons at the back to be awkward to reach, you can get after market 3D printed buttons on Etsy but of course that adds about £20 to the cost.

The chip in the RG35XX is more powerful, but the Miyoo has the wifi chip so you can upload to retro achievements and also play multi player games with other Miyoo Mini plus.

I got the RG35XX just before the Plus was announced but if i were to get it now...the wifi chip doesn't bother me at all as I don't care about achievements or leaderboards, and never play multi player retro games anyway.

Both can have Garlic or Onion OS. Onion OS is the more matured of the 2 but Garlic OS does everything one needs anyway. The toss up really is whether you want the more powerful chip or better triggers out of the box in the Miyoo Plus.

p.s. the screen on the RG35XX is also nicer, vs the original Mini. I can't compare it to the Mini Plus screen though.

RG35XX also comes with a screen protector out of the box, and it looks best on the grey console, not the transparent one. RG35XX can also run dual SD cards, OS on one, and games on the other. Apparently performance is better this way.

Also to add @manic111

RG35XX can be had from Aliexpress when offers are on, I bought my 2nd unit for £42 inc delivery!

RG35XX you can connect a Wifi dongle and wifi works and allows scraping and retro achievements (in Batacera at least) Wifi is early stages and Batacera is still in Alpha but I managed to connect to my Wifi and scrape some box art.

Biggest point for me -The RG35XX has not only a better CPU but also a GPU which as I understand the Miyoo mini (and mini plus) does not.
I've ran a Batacera build on the RG35XX and it plays N64 very well along with some PSP and Dreamcast stuff with frameskip set to 1. Examples below;

I absolutely love my RG35xx, only running it on GarlicOS but it's fantastic.

Love the fact you can just switch it off and it saves your progress and then next time it boots straight into where you left off. Very handy for Dads :D

Ordered one basically straight after posting yesterday!

Name some good retro games that it runs? I've never been massive on side-scrolling stuff, but love a good RPG. Looking forward to playing some old Pokemon and Zelda games but very keen for other suggestions.

Would / could it run Chrono Trigger (and on what console)? I've been wanting to play that for a long time.

It'll run anything perfectly up to and including PSX.

I'm grinding my way through FF8 on PlayStation. It's great with fast forward and save states.

Chrono Trigger will run on SNES no bother at all.

Already have a Steam Deck and its great, but I do like the smaller Odin for retro games.
I've got my (very) smaller RG35XX for that.

I dont think theres anything new in that middle ground yet, other than the 405M which has lesser specs that your Odin

405M has been great but it does struggle with Gran Turismo 3 on the PS2 which is a shame but it seems to be the limits of the chipset. Everything under including many PS2 games I’ve been trying seem to work well.
