BF Hardline Visceral Games

For reference i'm not that grumpy. I still enjoy playing battlefield 4 and think its a decent game. It has its issues, and its stupid that its taken them 8 months to get them game into a state it should have been released in. But that doesn't mean its "too late" or "pointless" since there are still people playing the game. What else are we going to play instead ?

There isn't really a credible 64 player war game alternative. There's arma, but this is too much of a simulator for me and not fast paced enough, and then there's Planetside, which I enjoy, but can't seem to get as involved in as I do with battlefield.

Here lies the problem with "the community".

DICE release a game in an "un-fit state" knowing that people like you will forgive them and play the game regardless. They get their sale and thousands of people will follow because it is the latest game and provides social entertainment online, not competitive and fun gameplay which Battlefield used to be.

Team stacking against random pubs is fun for 5 mins as you always win but it's not the same as the adrenaline filled, close ticket won rounds in competitive games which are the games you remember.

Did any of them actually state this on their build up videos and active promotion of the game before hand? I don't recall this but could be wrong.

This is the video that Drift0r made:

and here's another one he made that wasn't part of the program

watch from 1:50 onwards. He specifically mentions that the build is old, they aren't sure how old the build is, and that the game crashed when the weather rolled in on paracel storm.

So we know the game was crashing on them during the event, but it was an alpha / pre alpha build. How could you publish a criticism of the game crashing when you're playing alpha code ? We saw this with the BF4 "beta" that we all got to play. We all played it before release, but anybody who posted criticisms complaining about the beta not working properly were told it was a beta and that they should expect it.

Its completely unfair to scream foul play and claim that the youtubers hid the truth from us, when we all got to play the BF4 beta before release like them. Granted they got it earlier, but we did get to play the beta. But we made the same mistake as them in assuming that because we were playing beta, it would be sorted on release.

But it wasn't. How did the youtubers hide the truth when we all played the beta and still bought the game ?

If their was no financial gain for these you tubers then I may believe that what they say is the truth. A lot of these youtubers only started really bashing the game when they had other sources of income coming in from other games they were playing.

They started crying when they were caught red handed feeding off the devil that pays them.

you would be grumpy if you played this crap for as long as we have lol

:D

That's why I'm so cyncical about anything about this game. I also think it's unfair that I bash the game as some members (mostly new battlefield players) are looking forward to it. So I'll be back posting after post release when everyone is complaining about the same old things and making the same excuses. :p

It isn't unfair on you bashing the game as your hopefully making some people think "hang on a sec that dude has got a point why give another dime to the likes of EA until they learn"

your fav youtuber jack frogs

Sounds like visceral are at least trying. Interesting that they asked them in for feedback, asked for ideas on changes, acted on those changes then brought them back again to give more input on the result.

It's also interesting that EA are making them all put a "sponsored by EA" watermark on all the videos after they got so much hate mail after the the BF4 ones

Was the hitreg in BF3 alpha server side instead of this crap client side nonsense we got switch to?

If so I hope they go back to that for this game seeing as its meant to be "more tactical" and having client side with that would be utter pants.

Who's actually doing the MP for hard line, as I've heard some say it's DICE and visceral are doing the SP. It's either this or visceral are doing the whole game but with "guidance" from Dice on the MP.

I'd rather Dice had nothing to do with the BF franchise again to be honest.

There is so much hate in this thead for DICE. I've had around 600 hours of game time for £150. You guys moan and moan like their prices are not fair. What planet are you living on??? They could charge double what they do now and it would still be a bargain.

Clientside hitreg has its advantages. People go on about it being console derp but in actual fact the fact hit reg is client side has nothing to do with BF4's current issues. The big downside with client hit reg is that it can be hacked - which lead to the mass murder hacks we saw in BF3.

The last medal of honour game played brilliantly and had no such issues and used the same frostbite engine as battlefield.

And lets not forget, that one of the best hit reg games of all times, the one that was labled the daddy of them all - CS 1.6 : had client side hit reg. The idea that clientside = bad console derp stuff for COD fan boys and serverside = good was a very overy simplistic point of view.

Client side is better for the shooter, since the shooter doesn't have to worry about aiming where the server says the opponent is, you only have to worry about where the opponent is on your screen. This is bad for the person you are shooting, as it means you can get shot round corners since you weren't round the corner on your opponents screen.

This is where the whole tick rate thing comes in. CS 1.6 had customisable tick rate, and it could be set incredibly high. Battlefield 4's problem for the last 8 months is that the tick rate was very low, meaning the servers weren't sending enough updates to the client, and the window for which damage could be done after an event was too big.

Thats why this latest patch halved the window in which you can take damage (reducing kill trades and getting shot round corners) and also greatly increased the server tick rate to allow more updates to be sent from the server to the players so players have a better idea of what the server is seeing in regards of positioning of other players

The hate comes because of the state the game was released it. Its taken 8 months to get the game into a state it should have been released in. Both the servers and clients were crashing regularly on release. Dice have had tons of patches out to the address the various issues, heck the emblems on Xbox One only started working last month for example, and the game still regularly crashes for xbox 360 users on dawnbreaker which the 360 users have nicknamed gamebreaker because of how often it makes people crash.

Then there was the whole issue of rubber banding on the xbox one and PS4 servers that simply weren't specced up to deal with 64 player conquest. THe server code still has a memory leak in it which means that servers start to behave weirdly if they are left unrebooted for more than a week or so.

I'm no DICE apologist, I understand people's frustrations with the state BF4 was delivered in, and how long its taken them to get it to the point it is now. I am however a realist and refuse to subscribe to the point of view that "its too late" and "pointless" to fix it now. For as long as people are still playing BF4 there's always a point continuing to fix it. And its only by fixing the issues in BF4 they might get to understand the reason they broken in the first place - and stop it happening again. DICE can't win here, because if they do fix it, its "too little too late" and "OMG BF4 is finally out of beta LOL" but if they hadn't have fixed it and left it broke, they'd still get it in the neck.

are we talking CS:S or CS 1.6 ?

CS:S hitreg took a turn for the worse when it moved away from the client side hit reg of 1.6 and onto a new server side mechanism that even today never really captured the feel and accuracy of the original CS.

Agree, I dont have any issues with BF4, the amount of hours I've played it compared to the amount of issues I've seen or noticed is worth every penny

I run it in Ultra, it looks incredible and runs at over 60FPS and this its an online shooter. It had some teething problems at launch which with games this ambitious is to be expected to some degree but at the same time it does worry me why they release the games in and unfinnished state and get away with it but it was all sorted relatively quickly

I'll be getting Hardline, its probably the only game I'll buy on release day this year as I do with all BF games

We live in a world of social media whores who like to bitch and moan and "trend" issues that dont really exist, I think its funny sometimes, other times it irritates the crap out of me

£150 and 600 hours in a broken garbage game, well it's your life.:o

And yeah the hate is well deserved. ;)

Yup, jack frags is the worse youtuber ever, talks such bs about every dice/ea release:

Said that more or less for every damn DLC pack and they have all been **** so far (except naval strike)........
