BFG RMA question

Ahh dont worry people it just started working again and it says:
BFG RMA Status
Stage 1: Your full RMA number is xxxxxxxxx
Stage 2: Your RMA was received in the BFG Warehouse on 2010-02-05 03:11:39.
Stage 3: Your RMA has not yet shipped from the BFG Warehouse.

Hope they all ain't sitting together laughing at my letter lol!

I feel so sorry for all you guy getting messed around,

I had to replace my mobo and got an ATI Hd5770 at yte same time as I was having problems with my 8800 gtx oc2. I will have to rma mine at some point but Im not in any rush.

Good luck and I hope BFG sort it out sooner rather than later.

My replacement is at home waiting for me, very good service. Hopefully the card works :p The whole process took 5 days.

Mine took a while initially and I felt I was going around in circles until they finally let me know the return details and RMA number. Then I sent it off just before christmas and I had my replacement on christmas eve delivered by fedex.

The card I received back was an identical gtx 280 oc and it has new stickers on it. The card is definately used though as the fan was slightly dirty and to my horror I ran oZone3D FurMark to test it out and after a couple of mins the screen went purple and the PC crashed. Looks like memory problems to me.

Since then its crashed once whilst playing a game but then it's been fine. I think if it does it again it'll be RMA time for this one. ( I just can't face the long winded initial RMA request process right now)

Please let us know what you sent in and what you got.

Sent a 512MB 9800GTX and recieved a 1GB 9800GTX+ :( :p

Was hoping for something a bit better back but I can't really complain :) Just going to see if it actually works OK now.

Edit: All working fine, good stuff :)

Well, I finally got replacement card #2 back. The card I received was like for like (8800 GTS). So far it's worked fine so I'm happy :)

BFG seem to have good intentions but their communication can be pretty terrible.

6800 Ultra (Burnt out) replaced with 7600 GT OC
7600 GT OC (artifacted with stock factory settings) replaced with 9600 GT OC
9600GT OC (crashes no signal/output when gpu load hits 100% then nvidia blue screen)

Emailed jeff as he dealt with the 7600 GT OC, but cant help but think that they're replacing broken cards with refurbished ones :(.

I am having a bad experience with BFG right now. 8800GTS died 2 weeks ago.

23/01/10: Contacted BFG and setup RMA for 8800GTS.
27/01/10: Recieved reply and shipped card to them for repair/replacement.
29/01/10: Recieved GTX260 which artifacts all over the screen.
30/01/10: Contacted BFG and setup RMA for GTX260.
03/02/10: Recieved reply and shipped card to them for repair/replacement.
05/02/10: Recieved GTX260 which crashes 2 mins into games.
06/02/10: Contacted BFG to setup RMA for GTX 260, awaiting reply.

What do they do, recieve faulty units, stick shipping labels on them and send them straight back out to someone else?

At first I was impressed by the incredibly fast turn around, but now...this service is appalling and is going to cost me a fortune in courier fees. I hope the next replacement they test before sending out.

Will update once I recieve my next replacement, I really hope they get it right this time. And they oughta discipline their testing/repair department...

Sounds like you got my GTX260 I sent back :S the bottom right corner of the sticker on the main bit infront of the fan hasn't been restuck has it? :D (would see a fold mark if it was mine).

The 006 number: (with a bit blanked out).

006360----861

It does not have a folded sticker, though the plastic at the bottom of the card is quite chewed up/dented, lord knows what its been through for it to have that.

Maybe they put new stickers etc on them at their end. I can see the remains of old serial numbers where they have been peeled off at the back.

Has anyone else recieved a faulty 3rd unit? Or do they clean up their act on the third time?

Ah they'd have prolly replaced the serials :S

EDIT: Ah actually on my old one the serial was printed directly onto the sheath.

God damnit, it's been two weeks since I sent in my details for an RMA, nothing from BFG. They're using up my tolerance early, bad decision bfg...

Well, they said i'd get a 260 maxcore, but i now hold in my hand a 280 GTX, don't know if it was worth the 2 month wait mind you...

Yet to try it so knowing my luck its another dud.

EDIT: Scratch that, i hold in my hand a very expensive paper weight. My PSU only has 6 pin connectors. But not to fear i rang them up and told them to send me a dual 6 pin to 8 pin adapter.

Baka i'd email them again, they have a habit of doing that, you could also try giving them a ring 08456 446644 i got through to some confused woman followed by a rather helpful Welshman and now my adapter is on its way...hopefully.

Like I said, I had my faulty 280 gtx replaced by another faulty 280

forget what I said previously about it being ok now!

I've been playing some ME2 and it bombed out twice on me with a lovely purple screen!

I've had to reduce the memory clocks using Evga Precision and it seems stable now however the fan doesnt react to the temp change like my old card and seems to barely get going. I'm so scared about recieving yet "another" faulty card and the hassle/cost of having to post it that I'm just going to put up with this at the minute. So much for BFG's excellent warranty.

That's not good to hear, everyone seems to be getting faulty cards back, i don't know how they're "refurbishing".

Tell them to pay for postage, and they will come and collect it on a day of your choice, it goes back via next day too, that's what i did the last time.

I think I will see about getting them to arrange collection as you say.

With regards to refurbishing I think they just stick the cards in a reflow oven. They certainly don't put a new board in and in this day and age of surface mount etc I doubt they replace any of the components
