BFG RMA question

Enable the error check option when testing yes.

I saw errors in about 5 to 10 minutes, it took about that much time for my card to get hot and toasty.

I and yes I used both tests on my card after I received it.

Furmark doesn't appear to be compatible with Windows 7.

Not sure about using OCCT considering some AV programmes flag it up as a trojan.

Are there any other alternatives to check the new card is working as it should do?

I've had it installed for months, steam and wow accounts not hacked and my credit card hasn't been raped yet.

You can try the new msi afterburner, I believe that has a version of furmark or a simular program to it, that installs as an option.

well i got my gtx260 maxcore 896mb 55 today, abit of a hassel trying to clear cmos and get right settings on mobo, but im up and running again.

running furmark atm, under standard fan speed the gpu runs at about 75C with a fan speed of 45-46%

under 100% fan speed with a turbine in the room LOL it averages about 59-60C

everything seems good so far, only thing is 1 of my dimm slots is screwed and 1 of my ram modules :/

but hey over a month of wait im not gonna complain about having my pc working.

Just taken delivery of my third replacement card. I got a GTX 285 OCX in the end which is a nice upgrade. Hopefully the card is working this time. At work so it'll need to wait until tonight. It's now almost exactly three months since I first began the RMA process. Have to hand it to Phil, Dave and the other folks at the Wales depot. They really moved fast to sort things out after getting nowhere with the US customer 'support'.

caerleon, My latest FedEx tracking number was 11 digit and allowed me to track on their website. It just arrived with them this morning but BFG account not showing as anything been sent back to me as yet. I'd try ringing Wales again to confirm your card is on the way. If it is lost in the postal black hole they should send out another really.

Be interested to hear what you get back. I'm also trying to replace a 9800 GX2 and have received two (broken) GTX 280's in return so far. Performance wise it's a fair enough swap (I suppose?) but my main concern is that cards as old as this are almost certainly ex-faulty units. At least they claim to be testing the cards under load now.

I have had a GTX285 OC+ delivered (or at least the stickers state)- Not working of course!

I seem to have an issue with the PCI-E as it states under test to be using x1 when it should be x16. Both power leads are connected, BIOS checked. I am checking if this is a config error with the board before shipping it back to BFG. I have another post on here running with the trial and errors. Basically the card still doesnt run anything with Physx. (That is also the title of the post)!

caerleon, Really sorry to hear you have received another broken card. I feel your pain. Almost reluctant to add that my latest replacement is finally working at last. The problem is that BFG (US) are sending out duff and untested (at least not under load) cards to the UK depot so I can sympathise with their frustrations too. How many replacements is that for you now?

I've just received my replacement 260 OC maxcore in place of my old 8800gtx. Five minutes in HoN resulted in a hard lock up and epic graphics corruption, another 10 minutes resulted in yet another hard lock/corruption.

OCCTPT causes pc to crash out completely leaving a pc that won't warm boot without a graphics post error. Not looking good here

I'm going to uninstall and then reinstall the graphics drivers. If that doesn't solve it, then time to phone up and whine.

As a side note, this new card stinks of WD40, as a result, this room now smells like industrial cleaner, nice.

Sent BFG an email regarding my 9600GT OC, which as far as their RMA tracking hadnt reached them, but royal mail tracking said otherwise, in which they responded saying they had moved warehouse.

Received 9600GT OC last friday, and then another monday morning.

Strange.

The one received on friday appears to be working ok, cant say iv tested the one on monday though.

GothicGhost, can you not find and print the invoice from your "Order History" or from a dispatch email. I found the dispatch email from ocuk and forwarded that.

I checked my order history and no 7800 in there i don't know why that is i am 100% sure i got from OCuk as i ordered it with a hiper 580 type R PSU (still going strong ) :D

Not sure what i can do maybe give OCuk a email later see if they can help.

Well there it is, card crashes in pretty much every game I throw at it. Sigh. Time to RMA the RMA, good work guys.

My favourite bit is the 'Tested & Inspected by PA' sticker.

I hope you enjoy reading this, as much as I enjoyed writing it.

----

Hi there BFG support,
I received my replacement card this afternoon from fed ex with great
anticipation and excitement.

Tearing through the protective seals of the box, bubble wrap popping
around me, my hands furiously unravel the anti-static bag to find....

... An overwhelming stench of industrial solvents, it was almost as if
the last occupants of this bag, were two hormonal cans of WD40.
Blinded by their overpowering desires for one another, they'd made romance
explosion.

'No matter' I told myself, 'Soon I'll have my replacement set up and I
can continue on with my life, without having to waste any more time.'

Unfortunately, my child like sense of optimism was crushed, like
'Bubbles' the birthday puppy under 18 wheels worth of truck.

First problem was that the received card was completely different from
the card I had RMA'ed. Instantly rendering my SLi setup useless.

'Hooray!' I exclaimed, now I have much higher fps in games where I don't
need them and lower fps in games that I do! Although at this
point the miasma of WD40 was beginning to fill the room, so perhaps I
was a little delirious.

But the real heart breaker, and the reason why I feel so compelled to
share my story with you today, is that the card doesn't work.

I know, I know... after all of that you'd think the happy ending would
be all the sweeter, but no, at the slightest hint of work the card
metaphorically craps it's pants
and hard locks the system. I have collected samples of it's droppings
and can provide them if you'd think close examination would prove fruitful.

I've found, that if you just stick to 2D applications or just move the
mouse around the Windows desktop exclusively,
the card works fantastically! and I recommend it to those who enjoying
purchasing products because their NHS mental health nurse allowed them
within arms reach of someone's credit card.

So with a weary sigh, I replace the defective 260 with my old trust
worthy 8800 and the cycle of woe begins anew. I notice that the picture
on the front of my
8800 gtx is foreboding. A man, grasping his head in frustration, A man,
who's eyes burn frantically in search of a solution, A man, I don't want
to turn in to.

Before me is a cross road, down the left, one gnarly path, I can see
people, hundreds of them, forever stuck in post office queues. Their
clothes tattered, feet
dirty and bandaged, eyes deep wells of hopelessness and despair.

On the right, a golden shiny highway, I see flying cars, rainbow ponies,
money trees and perhaps, 'although I dare not dream' customers receiving
working cross-shipped rma's from fed ex.

I don't want to go left BFG, I want to have a life, one day perhaps
children, so for the sake of humanity BFG, please tell me to go right.

PS. I recommend you fire PA, he clearly hasn't tested or inspected this
card.
PPS. I found this whole exercise very therapeutic, if you insist on
causing your customers grief, I suggest you include a creating writing
kit with every purchase.
PPPS. I have very reasonable rates!

well to give ya an update from my rma, my gtx260 maxcore seems perfectly fien or me, its a pity my abit aw9d max is playing up and wont keep its setting, i guess the gods are sending me a sign to upgrade, 1st my 8800ultra packs in then its over a month to rma it then wen i get a workingreplacementmy mobo decided enough is enough. goodness know whats next, maybe 150gb 10k raptor drive

I got my 9800GTX which seems to be working fine (played COD4 for a couple of hours without any trouble). I don''t really want to stress test it for fear of breaking it - it's doing what I need it to do right now.

I was a bit worried when I saw the look of the card - the top edge was seriously bent which meant I couldnt fasten it to the case before I attacked it with a pair of pliers. Also, the new card is twice the size of the last one for some reason with only a little better performance - it's really obese and has wiped out half of the SATA slots on my mobo.

originaly my 8800gtx oc2 was replaced with a 800ultra, and now that was replaced with a 260gtx maxcore, i just happy to have an upgrade from 3 year old card, yes it mightnot be the best card but bfg r a good company and offeringlifetime warranty is unbeatable imo.
