BFG RMA question

Ok I submitted my RMA over the phone on friday, I was told I would be sent a replacement card first and then to send my old 8800gt OC2 back to them. I got an email requesting the Proof of Purchase, which I sent to them. I get an email back saying my Proof of Purchase had been updated on Saturday. That's it so far, am I right in thinking it's 24/7 support though?

I'm sure I should have had another email about my RMA process, not just that my proof of purchase was updated. Maybe I should give them another call or wait until Monday?

EDIT:
Well I called anyway, I was told that it takes a few days to verify the proof of purchase and they will ship out a card probably on Tuesday. It comes with a shipping label to send my old card back too.

Good luck. I was told to allow 15-30 days over two weeks ago, after it taking another three to actually get them to acknowledge and verify the PoP. Then yesterday I got an email telling me that the RMA had expired due to them not receiving the faulty card! Tbh I'll be very surprised if I ever see a replacement for my 8800GT OC2.

Anyone who purchase a product solely for the 'lifetime warranty' must always consider the fact that the company may fold.

Edit: Just read the bit about Nvidia. "would not support our business". Ouch. Sounds like a big FU to Nvidia :)

"Lifetime" warranty is an interesting one, what does it mean? Lifetime of the owner, lifetime of the components, lifetime of the card in terms of obsolescence?

Obviously companies folding means any "lifetime warranty" promise should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Well, I've got a GTX295 H2OC that's just gone pop. Not quite a year old, bought from OcUK. If BFG won't RMA it then it's going back to OcUK. I suspect that there must be quite a few BFG graphics cards sold by OcUK and others that they will have to provide warranties for if BFG won't stand behind the original warranty.

Unless you really can't afford it, a bust graphics card just gives you the perfect excuse to oneself/partner to take the opportunity to upgrade!

Replacing 5-10+ year old cards with new ones was a very good service/warranty provided by BFG and probably helped them sell a lot of cards. Sad to see them go completely.

Your not really missing much - almost 2/3rds of the RMA replacement cards I've dealt with have also died within months.

Really weird - they must have a damp or static or something issue with their warehouse or shipping or something - as they are basically the same cards as everyone else has been selling.

Rmas should always go back to retailer within 1st 12 months anyway

I just recieved this email:

This email has been sent to inform you that BFG RMA number *******, originally
created on Aug 13th 2010, has been cancelled.

BFG Technologies, Inc. is winding down and liquidating its business. Unfortunately our
major supplier would not support our business. As a result we are cancelling your RMA
without being able to repair your product. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you have already sent your product it, it will be returned to you.

Damn :(

So basically nvidia screwed them over, they had nothing to sell for ages once nvidia stopped production of previous gen gpu's and with the fermi delay that basically sealed their fate (apparently anyway) =/ A good reason not be exclusive to any one vendor.

Same people who used to run BFG Tech. were responsible for another US company which was busted mid 90's - they were producing graphic cards as well. Simply they done that again, now they will open another company, under new name and everyone will be happy, apart from customers. Can't remember the name of that busted company, something with "Vision" in name.
