Bicycle 0 - Me 1

I said its possible that FF could be in the wrong in a legal sense because of his intentions to purposely cause an accident

He had no intentions to cause an accident, he didn't avoid it though, but surely that's very different?

Why not? Cyclists are amongst the most arrogant morons on the road. They pay no road tax, have no insurance and nearly always fail to obey the rules laid down for everyone else to abide by!

Lets get something right, I hate bad cyclists as much as any other motorist, but as a cyclist I also respect the good ones out there.

I DO pay road tax, I am insured (via contents insurance) and I do obey the rules of the road like I would when I'm driving.

Don't paint us all with the same brush.

Woohoo, here we go again... The wear caused by cyclists on the road is minimal compared to cars. That takes care of road tax. I'm sure cyclists cause vastly fewer less serious accidents. That takes care of insurance. As for not following the rules of the road... yeah, I'll give you that. It sucks that a lot of them don't obey them at all.

I agree with your points but that would be a little extreme.unless of course your being sarcastic

Just the other day I was crossing a one way street having carefully looked in the right direction, only to be nearly knocked down by a cyclist going the wrong way down the street. The things he called me were outrageous but I was so stunned that I didn't do anything. Just stood there like an idiot.

Why is it that there's never a policeman around when you need one?

I'm slightly biased, not long a go we had one of 'them' put a rather nice deep scratch from rear bumper to headlight and disapear off down a side street with a cocky smirk on his face! Then, a mate had one ride straight out of a side street without a care in the World and embed himself in his grill, basically putting the little Fiesta out of action for good.

Don't even get me started on the ones who think the pavement is for riding on!

Just to clear up:

Cyclist in question was in the wrong
Not all cyclists are arrogant or morons
Some cyclists have cars and pay road tax
Not all cyclists ignore rules of the road
Azagoth is an idiot
That is all.

Not all but it's starting to feel like I'm in the minority being a reasonable cyclists.

Yea I was just being annoying :p but yea your right I think good cyclists are the minority now, most annoying thing for me is people on bikes cycling through town centers :/ and no its not always chavs lol

The below quote tells us that FF has noticed the cyclist and also noticed the fact he is not slowing down, FF mentions hes stubborn and decides to carry on regardless

I notice the cyclist, but carry on walking only to find that he's not slowing down and being a stubborn git I decided not to speed up or slow down

I think that FF knew exactly what he was doing and was out to prove a point (which he certainly did with great effect :D)

that is why its possible that what he did was unlawful (but very funny)

Given the width of you FF maybe he was trying to go around you, it's a long way you know.

;)

It doesn't mean FF intended it to happen, it just means that FF was not going to have his actions dictated when he was in the right.

But again, he wasn't the main cause of the accident, the cyclist was. He didn't avoid the accident, but then he should have to.

The ones who annoy me the most are the tools who decide to cycle 5 ft away from the kerb or if there are more than one, cycle next to each other rather than in a line, making passing almost impossible..

Ok, where to start? Cycling two abreast is legal and is featured in the Highway Code so go read it. Cyclists being too far out from the kerb may be simply avoiding potholes or debris. Cyclists have as much right to be on the road as you so calm down and wait until it's safe to overtake and then do so.

There are idiots who partake in every form of transport be it, driving, biking or cycling. Each has a small minority that flout the rules and annoy everyone else.

In response to Freefaller, well done for standing your ground and even more so for not planting a right hook on his chin.

Should have walked over and put the idiot out of his misery. One less cyclist in the World means one less cretin to scratch alongside of the motor with no insurance!

Reminds of when I was filtering through traffic and as I was just passing an Audi, the passenger dropped an empty drinks can out of the window. I couldn't avoid it and it wrapped around my tyre, causing me to skid right into the side of the car and in the process, I gouged a nice big scrape in the bodywork and smashed the electric wing mirror with my bull bars. A nice lad though who acknowledged that but for the actions of his passenger the whole event wouldn't have happened.
