Bicycle 0 - Me 1

:D

Glad to hear you stood up to the people that ignore the law, I mean if it had been a cross roads he could have been mown down by a car/lorry, or run into one instead of you, so he should be thanking you that you've pointed out the error in his view on the roads...like he'll take much from it other than some pain though.

Well done. I would have done exactly the same (and often do).

Don't get me wrong I have a lot of respect for people on 2 wheels, I ride a motorbike myself, however if I made a mistake I'd put my hands up and scream mea culpa as loud as I could in an post-coital and dramatic manner.

The image that has conjured.....

I would love to see a cyclist that can get where I'm going 10 seconds slower than me in my car ;)

Where I used to work, it took me 45 minutes in the car, on the bike it was 35 minutes and it was on the same roads! So I would be waiting for you!! :D:D:p:p;)

usually takes me around 15 minutes to get home on my bike

I got a lift today and it took 30 :/

Khan yes I do live in London.

.

Well my point is that London is one of the most unfriendly places I have ever been to and I have been to some ****holes with work.

Glad you are ok, as always I know that not all Londoners are buttmonkeys like not all bikers are going to run into you.

Shame it is the minority that ruin it for the rest.

Yes, actually.

And I'm not talking about 2 abreast, I know that's legal though I don't understand why. I'm talking about the cycling clubs who always seem to be out in force every weekend around here who quite happily take up most of the road riding 3-4 abreast.

They generally ride like that for self preservation and to prevent the odd moronic car driver trying to squeeze past at every opportunity.

Make a note to yourself for next time you come across them and treat them as you would a tractor, vintage car, milk float, horse rider etc, etc...get the idea!?

FF knew what was coming, we know this because he mentions how stubborn he is and carries on even though he knows a cyclist is approaching that is not slowing down, the fact he knows this gives him the opportunity to avoid the accident, that is why FF's actions could be unlawful

I dont think its such a black and white case just because the light was on red or because pedestrians have right of way

I think its very interesting though, certainly very funny :D

Get your power back. Call InternetLawyers4u.

Excellent job FF, an inspirational story for anyone aiming for the tenth-tonne! Break 100 and you might be able to try it against a G-Whiz!

You don't know the law but you still dole out legal statements. Hence, you're an internet lawyer, like an internet doctor, hardman, pimp or priest.

I hope you're not referring to me as a moronic car driver. Even though I'm bitching about them I don't pass them until it's safe to do so and I wouldn't want to risk injuring anyone.

You can shove your condescending attitude as well.

Cyclists fault. He should have slowed/stopped.

The worst sort of pedestrian is the type that hovers back/forward as they see you coming, deer in headlightesque.

I tend to employ a similar tactic as yours FF, but with a twist. Many's the pedestrian I've shouldered, pushed or made jump by shouting loudly when they hover off the kerb waiting to cross but not actually watching the traffic properly. It's almost a competition in this city who can stand furthest forward in the road while waiting to cross.

I havent doled out any statements, I've certainly not said anything that could be construed as legal fact
I gave my opinion and put the idea out there that in the eyes of the law FF could have been the party in the wrong and after a bit of discussion I dont believe that to be the case

your correct, I am no legal expert although I do find the law and how it works very interesting

if you have a problem with that then find the ignore button :)

I feel your pain, ive nearly hit a few cyclists in my car due to them running red light etc. None of it my fault!

It all depends on where you are going, inner city travel is always going to be faster by bike. I live in a semi-rural area where the public transport is terrible and you really do need a car for day to day use but I don't mind the thirteen mile cycle to work and it is the only way of knowing exactly how long it will take me to get there.

Public transport - 55 minutes (if it turns up).

Car to my place of work - 20/30 minutes (dependent upon idiots who drive at 30mph on a 60mph road).

Bike - 40 minutes.
