Biden and the UK

I think he's over stepping the mark with regards to interfering in the NI / Brexit issue. If anything he needs to apply pressure on the EU and give his backing to the UK.

Imagine the US being concerned about the Good Friday Agreement that they are a signatory of. We are obliged to stand by that agreement and the US should pressure our government to stand by that agreement. You happen to have extremist views on this subject. At least Biden knows Ireland isn't part of the UK, unlike Trump.

LOL it's not extremist for the UK parliament to have ultimate responsibility where powers aren't devolved to NI. I'm sure Trump was referring to NI and was taken out of context. The UK parliament are not suggesting a land border between RoI and NI so they are standing by the GF agreement.

Why not back the EU, considering the EU is considerably more important to the US than the UK?

We're a fully paid up member of NATO. Who stands with the US when an issue somewhere in the world requires it, us. Biden might not like it but sometimes you have to back your allies.

Ummmm. Sorry to break this to you but there's 1 or 2* EU countries in NATO as well.

We've had this discussion before. Sadly your views are like lots in NI, extremist and IMO so far removed from the rest of the UK that I'd be very happy to ditch NI from the UK, even though I have friends there. It could become its own independent nation where its views on politics, religion and morality are not in conflict with ours.

The Irish papers didn't think Trump was referring to NI and considering he was with the Irish Taoiseach at the time he made them that is a lame excuse. Trump is just thick as pig **** is a far more likely reason for his comment.

The UK Government was threatening No Deal Brexit which would have put a border back in Ireland. The fact that backfired on them and left them in an even weaker position is irrelevant. That would have been against the GFA and Biden/Congress were right to pressure us.

^^ This^^ We are small fry in terms of trade compared to the US.

PMSL:D Just look at the list Vincent has posted, there are almost no major EU countries that are not part of NATO, and their total GDP, population and NATO funding dwarfs the UK.

I'm still confused at how a 78 old dementia sufferer can get elected to the Oval Office and be given the codes to the world's most devastating nuclear arsenal.

No mention of possible dementia here, maybe you know different;
Just how healthy is Biden? Quite healthy, according to the most recent medical assessmentreleased by Biden’s doctor in December 2019. The report from Kevin O’Connor, DO, associate professor of Medicine at George Washington University, called Biden “vigorous” and fit to successfully be president.

The information in the assessment noted that Biden is taking blood thinners and medication for acid reflux, cholesterol, and seasonal allergies.

Biden does not use tobacco or drink alcohol and exercises 5 days a week, O’Connor said.

In addition to several sinus surgeries, Biden has had his gallbladder removed and has had several non-melanoma skin cancers removed.

At the time of the exam, he was 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighed 178 pounds, and had a blood pressure of 128/84.

*Although it’s said that dementia affects one in fourteen people over sixty five, and one in six people over eighty.*

And some of those most likely don't pay in what they should.

They're not extreme at all, it's a province of the UK not RoI! As for a no deal Brexit, we weren't proposing as part of that to build a hard border, if the EU / RoI had chosen to then that would be on them.

Way out.

Only the United States, Britain, Greece, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, France, Norway and Romania will spend 2% or more in 2020, although Turkey, Bulgaria and Croatia are close.
Germany, Europe’s biggest economy, has pledged to reach the NATO defence spending target by 2031.

They should pay or leave.

Well there is also the 27+ accusations of sexual assault and rape against Trump. Also making illegal campaign contribution payments that lawyer was convicted of and where he was "individual 1". Payments to hush up having sex bareback with a porn star, while his wife was breastfeeding at home.

I'm not going to try and defend Biden or explain why he likes the smell of kids hair. But he did lose my wife and young daughter in a car crash that also put my 2 sons in hospital for weeks. Maybe that has something to do with it, maybe not. However your attempt to compare that to the acts of a convicted sex offender are a bit sick and ironic as it wasn't Biden but Trump who spent years partying with Epstein.

I have lost a son as a baby.
Yeh it hurts.

But it must have hurt more when he found out his wife was the cause of the crash.

very much in the indifferent camp, and i'll admit any support i have for him is indeed based on "not trump"

tbh, i reckon it's mostly been because covid has been sucking up all the headline space that we haven't been hearing much. after all every day something's important enough to make the front page.

I'm not pro-Biden in any way, but I am 100% pro-Biden-over-Trump

The only US president (serving during my lifetime) I actually had any real goodwill towards and thought favourably of was Obama.

Germany paid $63.8 billion, broadly in line with us.

It's just their GDP is bigger than ours, so as a percentage it's not quite as much.
