SC I think I remember you asking if anyone had a Monarch and how many rebound clicks it has?

I had a Monarch Plus for a while and I'm pretty sure it had a lot of rebound adjustment, something like 10+ clicks.

just been out for a bit of a ride, the bike's great but my front wheel started 'tinging' when I went a bit fast or cornered fast. I got it on a flat road and went pretty fast weaving left and right and it was tinging like mad. I thought it was spokes but it may be the rotor rubbing a little.

Anyone had this before?

It's probably your spokes rubbing together slightly./

Is the wheel true? What about the spoke tension?

wheel looks alright, and none of the spokes feel loose, but then again I don't have any fancy gadgets to accurately test them.

Any reliable way of testing them?

It's the rotor. Re-centre calipers to fix :)

It'll be the ****** Avid brakes. My rear already feels funny after about 6 rides. I Think it's time to save up a bit of cash and buy a set of Hope Tech M4's as I never had any problems at all with the other Hope brakes I've had (C2, mini, Mono M4).

I used to have it on my old bike, see if you can find out what the rotor is hitting, because it could be the brake mount.
Sometimes the solution is to set it up so 1 pad very gently rubs all the time.

that's how they were setup when it came, I then realigned them thinking the slight rub was due to incorrect setup ... hmm, maybe the Germans do know what they're doing after all ...

Anyone tried the Giro XAR? I've had Giro Xen's for my last couple of trail helmets but my latest got crushed in my luggage and I need a replacement.

Well ideally it shouldn't rub at all. But then again it's not supposed to ting either :p
Play around with the caliper position, there's normally a point where it works perfectly even if you have to align it a few times.

Right, next question ... I'm burning through most of my shock travel (140mm) even though it's at around 280 psi. Can I keep it on propedal or is it a matter of losing weight (105kg/17stone) or buying another shock?!

When you say burning through, do you mean while riding or when just sat on the bike?

Sag should be about 25 of your shocks travel when just sat on it.
