Why is a bike called a steed now haha?

And here's my old skool Kona Lava Dome:

Excuse the quality and backwardsness of the pictures, I couldn't be bothered to get my camera out so I just took my MacBook outside and used the webcam :p Earlier today I was having great fun doing the 4X and slalom course at Chicksands until I got a puncture :(

I'm hopefully going to be getting a 2006 Kona Coiler soon though :)

Would you say that my current bike is "long bike"? I had a go on a 17" Coiler today and it felt like a good fit but I'm thinking maybe getting an 18" one, so it's a little longer. I'm 6 foot tall. Did it just feel a tad short because I'm used to a long XC bike, not a newstyle freeride bike? There's nowhere local where I can really get a go on both sizes :(

This is a picture of it

I don't know what size that one is ^ ^

Nash i have just moved from an out and out XC bike to a more relaxed enduro bike and the set up is ever so more upright and actually i have found it a far better way to ride. Im 5ft 11 and i bought a 17inch frame Trek.

Very good so far, great stopping power especially as I am about 210lb without gear. Brakes are quiet and never get too hot. Wish I could have got some 180mm rotors, but Merlin only stock the 160mm.

can someone help me with bunnyhopping? I've looked at all the videos but I just cant do it :( I do the weight transfer and it just makes me smash down on the front tyre

How old are you? How heavy and big is your bike? A lot of it is down to strength and size.

Curl your feet round the pedals almost, squat down, jump up but keep your feet on the pedals and pull with the handlebars.

Get some SPD pedals or similar and it's easy :)

you don't need spd's to bunnyhop, when i bunnyhop i think i use more downward/backward pedal pressure to raise the wheel least that what it feels like. shimano mx30 "dx" flats here, like my old 80's bmx ones :D

No way i could bunnyhop that ^ high..but i pull up hard at the front and balance it out by pulling up with my feet.....my mate on the otherhand pulls the whole bike up at the one time. I prefer my style but sometimes when i arse it up i make use of having rear suspension.
