Hello all! I've signed up to cycle to work and can have up to £1000 at Halfords to spend. I want a road bike and currently there is a 15% discount on Boardman bikes. Has anyone got any opinions on these bikes? I'm looking at the Boardman road team which will leave some money for shoes, pedals and other bits.

Got my first proper bike this week, Boardman Pro FS. I've not had a chance to properly ride it in anger but initial thoughts are that I wish I did it sooner - It feels awesome. :D
I've never had rear suspension or disk brakes before, and I've already made the classic mistake of squeezing the front brakes when the wheel wasn't in... (doh)
Even my Santa Cruz Bronson riding workmate is suitable impressed after a quick ride!

Going to go down to Halfords and get some new tyres today as they have 15% off. Don't want to spend too much and am looking at getting some Maxxis Advantage, two for £27. Has anyone got any feedback on them or is there an alternative I should be looking at? I've got Continental Mountain Kings atm but the sidewalls are knackered.

Depends on intended usage a lot, but worth checking online, for example chain reaction are selling mountain king II's for £13

The problem with Halfords is they don't carry a massive range in the shops, especially folding tyres which I prefer for the weight and are easier to fit/remove.

I'm booked for 9th May :p
You gotta book up 3 months in advance, as the days become available, specifically for the weekend rides.

Dude, if you get wind of a spare ticket that day, plllleeassse hit me up. I'm meant to be coming too but spent the night puking my guts up when I was supposed to be booking. So gutted. Still doing FoD the day after though.
