May I ask what hubs your running on those rims, I have some similar rims and have been thinking about building them up.

Cheers.

Cheap onza hub on the front that came as part of the full build and a hope pro 2 trials on the back. Love the pro 2, best hub i've ever used and i trust it far more than a chris king hub.

Does the Hope SS hub use an 8mm allen, can you tighten the bolts independently? Thinking about getting a wheel built up using their SS hub.

Yeah it does, the bolts that come with it are pretty weak alloy though and the allen heads round off pretty fast. I just swapped them for some heavier duty bolts of the same thread size and pitch from b&q and they've been perfect ever since.

Both sides can be tightened individually, yes.

Maybe a slightly odd question, but what sort of shoes do you guys wear whilst riding?

I picked up a Specialized Rockhopper a few weeks ago and have been trying to put on the miles (mostly on the road), but partially on trails, and have been using some Nike Air running shoes... The soles are quite stiff and they keep my feet cool (mostly mesh!), but I dont want to get them covered in mud or catch them on a stone/chain ring and ruin them...! Im not looking to get any SPD shoes, but it would be nice to have something a little more durable/cycling oriented.

Shimano R099's with SPD-SL 6620 Ultegra pedals.

But then again, thats on my road bike. Don't know much about MTB's but I read here and there that Shimano make some good shoes for off roaders too.

Some old skate shoes (Reef i think) on Wellgo MG-1s, will be investing in some 5.10s though. Did buy some, but sent them back due to sizing. Really like the look of the freerider now though.

Still getting used to riding with SPD-SLs on the road, always have to look down at the lights etc. to clip in and takes a couple of tries sometimes.

Definetely need some more practise with these !

What do you guys think about Brodie bikes? Seen a lad getting off the train with a White HT earlier today. Thought it was a Broadman at first. Are Brodie's quite rare? Never really heard of them before. Got a soft spot for white bikes for some reason :p

Here's my beastie at the top of a hill in the Lakes, can't remember which one!

Only takes a few weeks practice m8, then you get used to them.

I still however have the odd "miscalculation" now and again when approaching junctions and still clipped in. :D :p
